Recognising where your leads come from can help you improve your business insights. In this article, we’ll discuss each Houzz lead type, including what it is and how homeowners find you that way.

See this article to learn about the best practices for following up on leads. For additional tips about managing your leads, see this article.

This article will discuss each of the Houzz lead types, including:

  • Select Match
  • Project Match
  • Direct Message
  • Phone Call
  • My Website
  • Houzz Other Sources

Select Match

Select Match leads occur when homeowners fill out an online questionnaire about their project through the Houzz website and Houzz recommends a list of pros. The homeowner can see each pro’s profile and can choose which pros to request quotes from.

If the homeowner decides to select your business, you’ll be notified of the new lead by an email with the subject “[Name] wants to talk to you about a [type] project.” Because these homeowners specifically chose your business, they are more likely to respond and want to work with you when you follow up with them, making this a high-quality lead type.

Project Match

Houzz Project Match leads occur when homeowners fill out an online questionnaire about their project through the Houzz website and Houzz matches them with up to 6 pros. If you’re one of the matched pros, you’ll be notified of the new lead and can follow up with the homeowner.

Direct Message

Direct Message leads occur when homeowners write to you by clicking the Send Message button on your Houzz directory listing or profile.

These homeowners are generally very likely to respond to your follow up because they chose to write to you based on what they saw in your listing or profile.

Phone Call

Phone call leads occur when homeowners find your phone number on their Houzz profile and give you a call. If you have call tracking a proxy number will show on your profile and any calls to this number with redirect to your phone but be tracked in your leads.

If you don't have call tracking, make sure to ask any homeowners that call if they got your phone number from Houzz, so you can mark it accurately for your Lead Insights.

My Website

My Website leads occur when homeowners contact you through your Houzz-hosted website, which is included in your Houzz Pro Ultimate or Essential subscription.

These homeowners decided to contact you after seeing your website, so they are likely interested in what you do. When you follow up with these homeowners, we suggest referring to your website so they remember why they contacted you, and you build a more personalised relationship with them.

Houzz Other Sources

Houzz Other Sources leads include leads that come from a variety of other ways homeowners find you from Houzz.
