House extension in Dun Laoghaire

The brief of this project was to provide a contemporary extension to a protected structure (listed building) on a substantial site in Dun Laoghaire.
The design created comfortable family living spaces to the rear of the main structure which was also refurbished and retained the large formal rooms with bedrooms over. The new extension is largely open plan and provides the main family spaces of kitchen dining and living at garden level.
The design features extensive glazing located to connect the internal spaces together whilst maintaining a degree of privacy and separation for the young
Externally the design is clad in timber weather boarding strips and complemented with a zinc roof that wraps the rear extension.
A pavilion extension from the main body of the existing build houses a small home office at ground level and en-suite over.
