“When we approached David from Dublin Design Studio in 2011 he was faced with the difficult task of meeting the living requirements of our large family comprising of teenagers and young adults. With this project he did not disappoint. David made the process of a difficult planing application easy and with a given time frame of 2 years and a hope of being settled in for Christmas 2012. We were very pleased to have moved in on the 18th of December 2012. He worked very closely with the building contractor, DC Building & Energy Services to complete a project involving the demolition of an old dwelling and the design and new build of a fabulous contemporary Eco. build comprising of 5,500 sq ft living accommodation. “In 2012 the living space in our home was dark and cluttered. The conservatory, a misnomer, was unusable , poorly designed, subject to extremes of heat and cold and the odd leakage. I had a budget and had to stick to it. I retained Robert Bourke as architect. From the off he had refreshing ideas . He prepared plans and tendered for builders , with time we got a reliable builder at the right price . This is not a fairy tale ! Roberts designs worked with the house and the budget. The removal of a useless door; the realignment of the living area; turning the conservatory into a room where we could dine at Christmas; opening up the kitchen all great but the real JEWEL was in bringing light into the living area . This was achieved by putting in two interior windows . At first I was sceptical but the effect was amazing. We have light and space all year round . Nearly three years on , showing signs of living, it has retained its magic !”
