About Us

Viola Interior Design, L.L.C. creates homes that are specific to each client. We are an award winning Main Line Philadelphia design firm that with creativity and careful planning creates custom, stylish interiors. We understand the importance of warm, inviting spaces that look beautiful and function well for each client’s particular needs and aesthetic. Maria received her Master’s degree in Interior Architecture and Design from Drexel University which allows Maria the ability to not simply "decorate" spaces but to truly design them with details that imbue quality. Her work has ranged from simple color consultations to office spaces to the renovation of entire residences. As part of Philadelphia’s new guard of interior designers, she has the ability to combine modern and traditional – balancing scale and proportion – always with a twist that raises it above the ordinary. With humor, knowledge, and the ability to uncover a client’s own sense of style, she partners with clients to affect change in their lives.

I hired Maria to redo a breakfast room and sunroom in a home we had just recently bought and desperately needed an update and change of style. I absolutely love what Maria has done in transforming these rooms into completely functional and stylish spaces which the whole family love being in. Maria has since redesigned our powder room and dining room and I have a long list (basically every other room in the house!) for her to bring her magic to next! Viola Interior Design, LLC transformed my very plain, Hudson Valley guest cottage into a beautiful jewel box of a getaway for my visitors. The design is perfectly appropriate for the area, giving the home a relaxing, yet sophisticated feeling. I am constantly receiving compliments on the design and the overall atmosphere of the cottage. I hired Maria for help renovating my outdated row home in South Philly. It felt overwhelming to design it myself with two small children and working full time. Maria was patient as I tried to figure out exactly what I wanted. She listened to what I was looking for and gave me practical options for each component. It was important for me to have my home bright and kid friendly. Maria helped select paint colors, lighting options, kitchen tile and appliances, flooring, and furniture. She was always available to answer my questions. My home is now airy and cheerful.

Maria knows what she is doing. She designed our renovation from the ground up and most importantly, she took our taste and preferences into account when selecting the furniture, colors, and decor. She selected furniture pieces that functioned how we would use them. It is reassuring to me that the project will be both tasteful and practical at the same time. Furthermore, she is very professional. When undergoing a project like this, things don't always go as planned in the construction and she talked me off the ledge on more than one occasion. I have worked with Maria for a little over five years as a trade resource for her (she buys for her clients from my business). We regularly meet with her and sometimes her clients to go over her projects and find the perfect pieces for her clients' space. We work with trade members all over the world, and there are designers who listen to their clients and designers who want their client's to listen to them. Maria is one of the designers who listens to her clients. It's your space, and she appreciates that fact. From a behind the scenes vantage point, I can tell you first hand that she designs for you with your style, your functionality and your budget in mind.

Maria is absolutely terrific. She is responsive, thoughtful, and respectful of your budget and scope of work. We had one room that we wanted to completely re do and three others that we wanted to keep some furniture but "spruce up" with window dressings, paint, carpet, and some accents. She really transformed the rooms. I can't recommend her highly enough.

We were building a new home and my husband encouraged me to seek out the services of interior design professional. I was skeptical about the idea because I wanted the home to reflect our style and taste. I mentioned to a friend that we were thinking about doing this and she recommended Maria Violia-Kuttruff of Viola Interior Designs. After reviewing on her website, I decided to give her a call. We hired Maria and shortly thereafter I realized it was the right decision. Maria is a talented professional. She really listens to you and works within your budget. She made sure she inspected everything that was delivered, and if it wasn't perfect, she handled it immediately and was excellent with the follow up. Maria cares about making her clients happy.

Maria is an extraordinary talent! Upon meeting Maria, it is obvious that she is both educated and experienced in the field of DESIGN. There is purpose and meaning to all of her ideas. Maria immediately understood my 'classic' style but didn't hesitate to offer ideas that helped me extend beyond my comfort zone. I am honestly thrilled with the results of every project Maria has completed for our home. Maria is highly professional and honest. She holds her vendor contacts accountable and doesn't settle for anything less than perfect. My only regret is that I didn't meet Maria five years ago when my husband and I initially purchased our home!
