We deliver the service and community commitment of a local, family-owned business backed by the strength of a company that’s built 75,000 incredible outdoor structures since 1980. We invite you to call for a free design consultation (and/or a free deck safety inspection if you happen to own an existing deck). At your consultation we’ll show you past projects, discuss your needs and tastes, explain your construction material options (including the new, low-maintenance wood alternatives), talk about costs, and measure and photograph your home/lot. The design consultation is completely free and you are under no obligation to hire Archadeck. Should you decide to move forward after your free design consultation, we will custom design your building plan. You will still not be under any obligation to hire us as your builder until you approve your plan and sign your contract. Of course, once you do sign that contract, you will be protected by two separate guarantees, constituting the most expansive customer protection plan in the industry. And local oversight assures your property and privacy are respected. We attend to every detail from securing any needed building permits to final cleanup. We hired Archadeck to build 2 decks and a screened in porch for us and can't say enough great things about our experience. We were wrapping up a large home renovation and our contractor cut corners when it came to our decks & porch. We spoke with several different companies and ultimately chose Archadeck for several reasons -- their quote was the most comprehensive and detailed, Jimmy was knowledgeable and friendly and patient with our requests throughout the vetting process and their reviews/referrals were consistently positive. Jimmy & team's communication was solid and reassuring, their craftsmanship is excellent and anytime I have a question or need a small update to something, they are quick to come out. Highly recommend!

Archadeck did an amazing job with our deck. We were walked through all the specifics before the building began and were contacted throughout the building process to keep us informed as to what was happening step by step. Jim was very professional and easy to work with and let us know his honest opinion on what would look/work best for our property. His years of experience definitely stood out to us and we would highly recommend him and his hardworking team!!

We had the best experience with Jim and Archadeck and if/when we do more projects he will be the only phone call I make. I had 4 companies give me estimates on what we wanted and Jim was the only one that gave me a 3D rendering that evening of what it could potentially look like with all our yard and house specifications precisely added as well. He was also the only one that said he could get it done in a month (all the others told me they couldn't even start the project for 3 months) and at or under his estimate...he was spot on. We decided on an outdoor fire pit with seating and an outdoor kitchenette. The different crews worked incredibly fast but with unbelieveable craftsmanship and we couldn't be more happy with the final products. There were a few rocks and dead grass patches leftover but that comes with the territory of chipping every single stone by hand, so we didn't mind and the grass is already growing back and it's been 2 weeks since they finished. Jim is also very responsive to phone calls and texts. If I ever had a question or concern about where a crew was or any addendum to the project, he was always available to communicate with me which was a HUGE plus. His communication was impeccable. All our neighbors and friends have given us amazing compliments and they all LOVE the new outdoor areas and of course we couldn't be more proud of what we, Jim, and Archadeck came up with. Give them a call, you won't regret it!!!

We truly enjoyed our experience working with Jim Odom. From our initial meeting, he completely understood our vision for our pool cabana and was able to recreate it into CAD for us to approve. The plans were reviewed by Archadeck's structural engineering department and then the structure began taking shape. The quality of products and workmanship were top notch. Jim stayed involved throughout the process. We are very pleased with our cabana. It is well built and exactly how we imagined it to be. We highly recommend Jim Odom w/Archadeck.

We love our pool cabana! Jim Odom with Archadeck presented a great plan, and helped us troubleshoot when we had some challenges. Quality work with a beautiful design has provided a beautiful structure to our backyard that we have enjoyed for the past 4 years. I highly recommend Jim and Archadeck!

First, the good. The "sales and design process" was smooth -- very responsive and good process that enabled us to develop and visualize the end result. Importantly, the finished product looks really nice. There are only a couple areas that were substandard and result of either 1) poor design or 2) poor execution. The prime example is with my 42" gas cooktop. The leuter (stone) cap had to have an unplanned cutout added as the way it was designed/built, the lid would not open. There were a couple other minor issues, but nothing major. As I said, the final product is great. If I rated this project/company based solely on just the end product, I would probably give it 4 stars. Now, the not so good. This project suffered from quite a bit of re-work and confusion in scheduling between the various trades. If we did not work from home, it would have been a much bigger challenge, had lots more rework, and taken much longer. There was an extreme lack of operational management and little to no communication. We had to fill the operations management role, and as the project moved on, the focus from Archadeck seemed to be solely on getting the next progress check, not ion ensuring job quality or customer satisfaction. We tried escalating this to the Ops Manager, the Sales Rep and the Owner, with no change in behaviors. If I were to rate this job just based on the day-to-day experience and customer focus, I'd give it 1 star, simply because 0 stars in not allowed. In summary, we are happy with the end result, but would not recommend this company to anyone who is not willing and able to manage the details daily.

Dear JB, thanks for taking the time to give us feedback on your experience. It’s encouraging to see that despite your final rating you feel like the final product got 4 stars. Personally, I think it’s stunning. It also sounds like you were very happy with the pre-sales process and our responsiveness as these are frequent issues for many customers. I for one am very proud of the work performed and have attached a picture below to give it some perspective.

From the not-so-good aspects of your review, it seems clear that you feel the operational side of the process needs improvement. I will be the first to tell you that effective communication is probably the biggest issue facing construction companies. In the case of your project, my team feels like there was frequent communication and that we were very responsive to all the issues raised and corrective actions were taken quickly and to your satisfaction. If you’re expectation was that someone be regularly present for that feedback, that’s a fair complaint; but it also points to the fact that there was effective communication to the extent that corrective actions could be taken without our regular supervision.

I do understand the spirit behind the comment and with your comments aside, we have added a field superintendent specifically targeted at improving this point.

As you know, since this review was posted, we have exchanged some email regarding what I may have done to hurt your feelings. During the build, you brought an issue to my attention. The problem was actually resolved before I could respond and I failed to respond. This obviously sent the wrong message to you and I have apologized for that and now apologizing publicly.

Regarding your comment regarding progress payments, I’m really sorry you feel that way but I’m actually glad you brought it up. When we create a contract and draws, we try our best to establish milestones such that the project can a) be properly funded, b) provide an opportunity to review the work completed, take any required corrective actions, and c) discuss concerns or questions with the homeowner. So, typically the meeting has more to do with discussing the project than actually getting a check. In your case, we were actively discussing things on a continual basis and getting the check was, in fact, just picking up a check. Further, most people have no idea how much it costs to build these type projects and that the margins are small relative to other service businesses. Material is a very large percentage of the sales price and the tradespeople must be paid weekly. We do not ask for weekly progress payments from you nor do we present you with material bills, so when a progress payment is due it is very important.

Finally, it seems clear to me that you are trying to send a message. Houzz is a very important place for consumers to view stunning work, get ideas, stimulate thought, and gain input on perspective suppliers. I think your final rating does not reflect the work that was performed, rather your expectations of the experience and for that I am sorry and honestly a bit surprised. We appreciate your business, I’m proud to have our name on it and I’m really sorry I hurt your feelings. As always, I would be more than happy to discuss this further if you so desire to.

Archadeck created a deck for us in our backyard where grass didn't grow well under a large red oak tree. The deck wraps around the tree, which complicated the project as a special permit was required since our tree is a heritage tree. In addition to the permit, construction of the deck was limited by where holes could be dug for the deck footings. Archadeck met with us, our arborist and the city arborist in order to accomplish the project and provide us with a beautiful deck that doesn't harm our tree. Our "crew" consisted of one man who is a true craftsman and definitely took pride in his work. Even after the job was completed and paid in full, Rory came back to install the last few plugs to cover the nail holes as he was a few short at the end.

I contracted with Archadeck to build an outdoor Spa in my back yard. The project consisted of stone work, decking, electrical work, painting and railing. Jim Odom and Christine Methvin were a pleasure to work with. The finished project turned out fantastic and Archadeck stayed with it to make sure that I was completely satisfied. Highly recommended! Starting in late February, Archadeck demolished and removed an old wooden deck and replaced it with a concrete slab with the same footprint as the deck. We added a gazebo on one side, and now the entire back yard has opened up. The gazebo has a strong ceiling fan that keeps the space breezy and virtually mosquito-free. Our new deck has become the center of activity in the yard: it's the gateway to the pool, several small ponds and garden spaces throughout. Several chairs under the gazebo provide a private setting for eating, playing a game, or just flowing the serenity that the sanctuary of the back yard elicits. Our back porch was old and rickety, and we wanted to make an improvement to our outdoor living space. We had a rough idea for improving our back porch, with an extensive wish list: 1. Extend the elevated deck so we have more space at floor level. 2. Use materials that will last and last, we don’t want to have to replace a wooden deck ever again, so we want suggestions for materials that have minimal upkeep and the maximum longevity. 3. We don’t want to block our dining room window view to the greenbelt (in the back, facing towards the back, it’s the far right part of the house). We’re not as concerned with blocking views from the bedroom/living room areas. 4. We must abide by the rules of our HOA -- Travis Country HOA, the Architecture Committee will review and approve our plans. (Rules attached). 5. We want to extend the covered area (roof extension) that is currently just a few feet behind the back and middle of our home. We’d like to have a space that doesn’t get rained on, and include lighting and a ceiling fan. We’re not sure whether we want it open on the sides or enclosed, so please give us suggestions. And, alternatively, would a covered area not attached to the house be a better option? 6. We need to consider a ramp (built in or attachable later) for easy wheelchair access to the ground level (don’t need it now, but might as we plan to live here forever.) 7. We want to use most or all of the available backyard space -- we don’t need the keep the lawn. So we’re thinking it will be two levels -- a large elevated patio, with a ground level space using water-permeable materials, perhaps pavers, that may have a space for a fire pit (we’re not sure) and will have opening(s) for garden beds. 8. We’d like some built in seating with a wide-enough back edge for placing drinks and potted plants. 9. If possible, include water-proof storage space for gardening tools at ground level. Tory Odom with Archadeck gave us a spectacular plan, with renderings so we could see exactly what it would look like, and professional advice on every detail. We ended up with a beautiful back porch that we will enjoy for the rest of our lives. They did great work with the highest craftsmanship, were consummate professionals and dealt with every request with a smile. And they were a pleasure to work with. Without hesitation we give Archadeck of Austin 5 stars, two thumbs up, excellent job, our highest recommendation.

They built an outdoor kitchen/living area where I had an existing small deck. Their design was beautiful and they jumped through all of the hoops to get it permitted through the city (no small deal). They kept the project moving as expected and the only delays were weather related. Their workers were efficient and pleasant to deal with . Christine, the office manager, was wonderful and whenever I had a question, she had the answer within a day. I would highly recommend their service to anyone looking to renovate or build a new outdoor living area
