TMD Architects

TMD has been a pleasure to work with from day one! We hired Trevor to design our dream (and hopefully final) home. Our lot is on a tidal creek but also very wooded, so he had the challenge of designing something that fit around trees that we can't cut down (and don't want to) while still taking advantage of beautiful marsh views. To begin, we had no idea what we wanted, but Trevor was patient and helpful, bringing us ideas and listening to feedback as we settled on final plans. His knowledge and attention to detail helped guide us easily through our neighborhood review process. We have already recommended him to friends and family.

We met with 3-4 architects before starting a renovation in Old Mount Pleasant. Trevor was our favorite and we are very happy to have chosen him. Here are some of the reasons: 1) His attitude - we had never done a project like this and he was patient as we iterated on ideas and drawings 2) His attention to detail - he asked thoughtful questions, he was always (overly) prepared for our meetings, and he helped us understand options and choices at a very detailed level. These details can make or break a project 3) His follow-through - he stayed with us throughout the project and ensured everything was delivered to his high standards. TMD Architects designed a replacement house for an existing structure for which we could not get permits to improve. It is on a lot we loved. We originally asked for ideas and designs for a small renovation of a bath and quilting studio room. Due to our location in a flood zone, and FEMA/County code requirements we could not get a permit for anything short of bringing the entire 1961 structure up to present-day building codes. We went through several attempts to design and then obtain approval on raising the structure... But replacement became the only reasonable action. TMD Architects walked us through the entire process of selecting among several design options and trying to get the renovation approved. They gave us very considerate pricing for the eventual design and construction oversight of an entirely new structure, given the hurdles that we had attempted to jump together. The principal, Trevor Draper, worked diligently in the difficult tasks of zoning and permitting -- from our early renovation hopes, to the final design and construction of the new home. The home itself is stunning. It is certainly the nicest space in which we've resided. Trevor guided our hand in the design with kind, courteous, yet informed and (at times) appropriately firm advice. All of the details of the finished home were a delight to see -- and many are attributable to TMD's experience and fine taste - we simply would not have known to specify the form and quality that TMD Architects created. TMD certainly saved us from some errors in our own judgement and taste, yet kindly yielded in a few cases where we were insistent on some aspect. In all, we worked together for over two years from original inquiries through design and occupancy. We could not be happier with our new home. And, we miss the regular dealings with TMD Architects. We recommend TMD Architects unreservedly!

TMD has been a great pleasure to work with - we hired trevor to design and oversee construction of our new home on our marsh front property- he is professional and very easy to work with- he listened to our ideas, thoroughly addressed any questions or concerns, and worked to incorporate them to create a home that fit our needs. His ability to host webex meetings was so convenient for our busy schedules and his 3D software was so helpful in alowing us to envision the plans as if we were walking through the house.
