Reynolds Landscape LLC
Woods Creek, WA Landscape Contractors and Gardeners
1 November 2014
We have hired Jim Reynolds and his crew two times, once for a small (but heavy) job bringing in a lot of big boulders and placing them, and the second project was for all the landscaping for our new home in Bellevue. What a great team, all working towards a beautiful (and useful fire pit) goal - our landscaped home.

Cook Brothers Landscaping

I switched to Cook Brothers Landscaping from another vendor that did not follow directions and badly hacked some of our shrubs. Brandon and his crew provide bi-weekly mowing and hard-surface cleanup for a fair price with good attention to detail. They also coordinated a major mulch job (30+ yds) which went very well. Highly recommended!

Universal Landscape Corp

We have hired Universal Landscape for three significant jobs (2011, 2012, and 2014), and I simply cannot say enough good about them. For perspective, I am a homeowner that served as my own general contractor on a whole-house-remodel. I have hired and fired many contractors. Universal is one of the top contractors I've ever worked with. They take pride in their work, they are masters of their trade, they work with me on details large and small before, during, and after the job, and deliver an end result that exceeds my expectations. Their bids are competitive, they are honest, hard-working, a pleasure to have on-site, and bring an artistic/design element that results in the outcome being better than I had planned every time. The jobs we hired them for include the following type of work: - Light land clearing - Sub-grade preparation for lawn and driveways (including detailed grading work) - Excavation and installation for new footing drains - Surface and ground water drainage - Installing top soil - Installing bark mulch - Designing and installing decorative rock retaining wall - Designing and installing rock steps and rocks in flower beds - Building bicycle tracks and large jump features
DREAMSCAPES Landscape and Design

Jacob worked with us on planning our backyard project, and was very patient and professional as we changed our design a few times. Jacob was very helpful, making recommendations based on our budget. The Dreamscapes team installed a garden wall to raise the length of my sloping backyard. The 3 foot high stone wall has some curves and includes stairs making it easier for us to tend to our garden without having to climb the wall. They also installed pavers for a nice addition to our smaller patio, this makes for a nicer foundation when we entertain family and friends. We are extremly happy with our beautiful backyard Oais. We will definately use their services again and highly recommed them.

Living Earth Landscapes
Woods Creek, WA Landscape Contractors and Gardeners
27 August 2019
We recently hired Bill Bowlus with Living Earth Landscapes to design our front yard and are extremely pleased with the result. We had some ideas (add several large boulders, use only plants that are easy maintenance with open mulched space in between), but didn’t know how to put it all together. The fact that we wanted to bring in large boulders complicated the process for us since not all landscapers who can suggest and arrange nice plants are also adept at bringing in and placing large boulders. Since the two processes would have to be coordinated before placing large rocks, we needed one person who could handle it all. What we liked about Bill: 1) His design ability. He listened to what we wanted (besides our ideas, we had some photos from yards we’d seen) and designed it even better than we had envisioned. He sent several plant and tree lists for us to choose from and we had lots of questions about these which he patiently answered after our various trips to different nurseries to see them in person. He brought out the larger plants and we worked together on placing these and marking the spaces for large rocks until we agreed on the design. The day of the rock placement (with large cranes), Bill expertly directed the placement, tuning rocks on their sides and digging them in to look like they were naturally protruding from a hillside and seeming larger than they were, thus we were able to get by with smaller rocks that still looked significant. 2) His plant knowledge. Though we had our own ideas, Bill was able to help us stick with just plants that are known to be currently successful in our climate while still meeting our criteria for the look we were after. He adds new plants and drops off old plants from his suggestion list based on how harsh the winters have been lately (the snow last year made him drop a few items from the list). I liked knowing we were getting the hardiest specimens that met our criteria since I don’t want to have to baby any plants. He steered us away from trees we’d seen in neighbors’ yards because the size they would get in our timeframe would not work well. 3) His reasonable prices. We had gotten another bid and we were having trouble getting back in touch with the contractor whose price was higher (and whose ideas we didn’t care for). Bill gave us a price range for each of our 3 separate bids (we added on a nice flagstone path and a separate drip irrigation system) and the final prices for each were always in the middle—and usually closer to the lower end of the range--for each of the 3 projects. The cost for the landscaping, including rocks, trees, plants and of course the design work, was $9500. We opted to add on the path later since we felt the price for the landscaping was reasonable. 4) His quick response to questions. We’ve worked with various contractors who drive you crazy by not getting back to you in a timely manner, especially when you need information to make a time-sensitive decision. Bill was great about answering questions quickly so we could proceed. We would highly recommend Bill for any of your landscape design needs.
Gardenworkz Designs
Woods Creek, WA Landscape Contractors and Gardeners
15 January 2014
We hired Gardenworkz ten years ago to create an extensive and coordinated landscape design for a residential 1.5 acre urban property in Clyde Hill (Eastside, Seattle area). Since then, Gardenworkz has continually maintained and upgraded this design, including landscape management throughout a recent 28 month period when we built a new primary residence on the property. Now that the new home is finished and we're moved in, the next phase is to complete the landscaping surrounding the immediate house area that was affected by the construction. It has been wonderful working with Laura Kleppe of Gardenworkz throughout this time. Before any landscape work is started (by the contractors she oversees), she prepares a landscape plan, and supplies us with a proposed cost - so that we go into each area of work with our eyes open and our pocketbook protected. I cannot recommend Gardenworkz highly enough. Every effort has been absolutely professional, and very good to work with.
Avalon Northwest Landscape, LLC

18 October 2012
My wife and I wanted to replace our ageing 20 year old cedar deck in our backyard. So we contacted Kevin Monohan, co-owner of Avalon NW Landscaping, and our neighbor up the street. The design effort was truly a collaborative process, which we liked. We met with him 4 or 5 times throughout the process to conceptualize and to come up with a design about the layout, the hardscapes, the plantings, and the timing and execution of the plans. Kevin always encouraged us to give our ideas for the patio. It was always a joy meeting with Kevin. He always considered our ideas and offered his advice on what he thought would be best design for our patio. And he was cognizant of our cost constraints and laid out options for us to consider. Kevin also immediately notified us of additional work that needed to be done that wasn't known in the early planning phases and we were able to make decisions about these changes. Kevin has an excellent combination of skills, both interpersonal and professional. The crew that did the work was also fantastic. The three of them worked diligently for three weeks and each day cleaned up the site meticulously. We were amazed at how proficient Avalon NW Landscaping was at keeping on track and on-budget with our backyard project. When it was all done, we were very pleased with the process and the outcome. We give them exceptional marks and would highly recommend using Avalon Northwest Landscaping. Cliff & Patti, Wallingford, Seattle
