Cork, Co. Cork Landscape Architects and Garden Designers
“We live in a 1960 s dwelling which won awards for it`s design when built. However the same attention was not paid to the garden which, by the time John was called in, was tired, over grown, with poor soil,a stump of a mature chestnut and a shed held together by ivy! John Butler came highly recommended. He listened to our ideas, kept to our budget constraints and enjoyed the challenge of working out how to construct a living wall in Cork. John Butler and his team were at all times professional, they kept to schedule and at all times to their mantra of delivering a garden that would be enjoyed for decades. Our neighbours were always considered - which was very important to us and any issue they rose was quickly and courteously dealt with. So the top soil and old slabs were cleared, drainage pipes and a soak hole were completed before the patio slabs were laid to the perfect slope from the house.(We know this because my husband checked with the hose pipe!)The foot and a half thick ivy was cleared from the wall and this was clad in Norwegian wood. The shed was replaced and John Butler`s crew added the wheelie bin hide. Our living wall was constructed using piping, each has a perforated hose going through it, the six are then linked to one hose hidden down the left side, which can be linked to the garden hose should the plants need watering. John chose the plants which he thought would be most suitable to our vertical planting aim. Our garden is a constant source of joy.It is an extension of our house. Our double doors slide back and the footprint of our house is doubled. Our toddlers love the garden and play outside - weather permitting - as much as they can. We highly recommend John Butler.”
