Newcastle Design

I bought my €30k kitchen from Newcastle Design. Installation was satisfactory and I was happy enough then. However, satisfaction extends beyond installation. Imagine my disappointment when now, 6 years later, Newcastle Design was unhelpful in sourcing a replacement for a broken part, specifically a plastic bracket (probably worth a few cent and probably easily resolved through a call to the manufacturer). They quoted me €765!!!! I found renewed contact with them to be disagreeable and will certainly not do further business with them.

My husband and I undertook a complete renovation and extension project on a 1930's house in 2017/2018. We did extensive research on all aspects of the project before deciding on which companies to use. Our decision to use Newcastle Design was without doubt THE best decision of the entire project as they excelled our expectations on all aspects. Indeed we feel their motto should read ' Under promise and over deliver' because this is precisely what they did. From the planning process led by Ronan Carey ( no complaints about too many visits to discuss the minutiae and detail of the project ) , to the design process ( including constructing a model island onsite to see proportion to space) , delivery process ( excellent delivery staff who were both respectful of the contractor onsite, and the site itself ) , to the superb joiners who installed the work and not least, the team of painters ( who come with a colour consultant who suggested and helped in the choice of colours). The after service, led by Philip Hempenstall, was superb, no item was too small or incidental for Philips attention. We used Newcastle Design to design and install our kitchen, walk in pantry, utility room, wardrobes in all bedrooms, all shelving and storage units in the living room, sitting room and a full kit out of a study/ artists studio. This project ran to time, with no delays or problems. It arrived on budget with many extras included without extra charge. All staff were courteous, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. The quality of the work speaks for itself, and it is our pleasure to recommend this firm to anyone embarking on a similar project. It simply doesn't get any better than Newcastle Design.

Who would have believed that a mouse could cause so much damage? Chewed his was through a pressurised 1 cm PVC pipe in five places - while we were away on holidays! Water absolutely everywhere! Three new ceilings and floors and an entirely new kitchen later and we had a functioning home again. In our search for a new kitchen we did the usual tour of various showrooms and, with little creative intervention on the part of the companys we had visited, eventually settled on a design which almost exactly mirrored our previous layout. The kitchen was a challenging long, narrow and dark room measuring about 9.5 metres by 3.5 metres. Just before we signed a contract, someone suggested that we visit the Newcastle Design Showrooms in Rathnew, Co. Wicklow. I have to admit that we undertook the journey to Rathnew with some reluctance having tired of showrooms over the previous months. On arrival, we met with Amanda Plower, Principal Design Consultant and, over a cup of coffee Amanda did something which, up to that point was unique in our experience - she listened, really listened, without interruption, until we had outlined our situation and requirements. When we had finished, she presented us with a number of options which she felt might suit such a long and narrow space and also meet our needs. We settled on a radically different layout compared with the previous layout and signed a contract. The old kitchen was removed and the electrical and plumbing requirements installed by another company, through close liaison with Newcastles most efficient and pleasant Director of Installation, Philip Hempenstall who later coordinated and supervised the kitchen installation. Clive, the colour consultant, suggested a colour combination which met with the approval of my lovely wife - no mean feat! The kitchen arrived on the appointed date and installation began, only to be disrupted by the "Beast from the East", with heavy snow preventing access to the house for a few weeks. Work resumed when access was restored and the installation completed with great skill and care by the most pleasant installation team. The lovely silestone worktop was supplied and fitted by Miller Brothers of Rathnew. And the final result? A previously dark, unloved and dreary space has been transformed into the centre of activity in our home - a much loved place. We are absolutely delighted with the finished product and so glad that we took that reluctant trip to meet Amanda. Would we recommend Newcastle Design to you? Do you have to ask?

Started looking for Kitchen in October 2018. From my first visit to Newcastle, I was impressed. At first, i did not think they would be able to meet my budget needs however they were more than happy to have open discussion and we tailored final product to get there, without compromising the Design. Newcastle's ability to tailor their products to maximise the use of even the most awkward space won them the engagement. There was no issue with shelves and presses being of certain depths, Newcastle made to measure. I did price several options and to be honest for similar costs, Newcastle just made small suggestions that made a huge different to the end solution. The quality of the final solution was amazing. Newcastle's no quibble attitude to small snags meant they were absolute pleasure to deal with and i highly recommend. I finally have the kitchen i was waiting for and will enjoy using it for many years. The on-site team were great, a pleasure to have in my home, neat and respectful throughout. Thanks Team

I just love my Newcastle Design Kitchen! A year on and I still stop to admire it every morning! It’s everything Amanda said it would be and more. We also got beautiful Newcastle Design bookshelves. Stunning. If I was ever to undertake another project, I most definitely would have a Newcastle Design on board. I can not fault them and I highly recommend them.

I had previously used Newcastle Design to install a study in my Dublin home and I found them excellent in both their professional approach, clever ideas to maximise space and access/hide sockets etc. and the quality of their work is superior. When we decided to make a home office in our country home we didn't consider anyone else and found the experience again very satisfactory. We worked with Newcastle Design on our recent house renovation in Dublin. They designed and installed our new kitchen and some book shelving, drawer units etc in a separate space. We had many meetings with Newcastle and found from the start to the end their level of service, attention to detail and genuine interest in the project was excellent. We were delighted that our own design ideas were considered and between us we were able to find the right look. Our project ran very smoothly and we found communication with Newcastle very easy. The tradesmen that came on site were excellent workers and very practical. The painters were skilled and seemed keen to ensure the job was completed perfectly. We are delighted with our our finished product from Newcastle. We love our kitchen and the units in our living room work very well in contrast. It's wonderful to see an Irish company in the heart of Wicklow producing such high standards of design & workmanship. We would have no hesitation in using them again in the future.

Newcastle Design delivered what we wanted at a price that matched the lovely quality of their product. A large family room and kitchen with desk and dining areas, an irreplaceable utility and plant room, a playroom with storage, a modern WC and an entryway boot room with tons of storage, all on the ground floor of our home. We didn't stop there either. All the bedrooms have built in closets, reading nooks and shelves which blend in with their surroundings. They even produced on the fly a seamless bathroom hallway closet that solves all related storage problems. The team from Newcastle worked very well with other trades involved in our project and are particularly familiar with Miller Brothers Stone the stone surface company. In my opinion, trade integration can be the difference between a successful and enjoyable installation or a nightmare with tension in the air and compromised quality. From the ever inspirational Amanda Plower in design to Philip on site, they were a pleasure to work with. Newcastle also impressed me with their willingness to help alter or correct an element, that you got wrong in the design process and to work with you on site to design on the fly the best possible solution for reality instead of construction plans. And if there are any snags, they keep coming back until you are happy because ultimately that is their goal, to ensure you are happy in your home. Their parting words were... "Please do not hesitate to call if anything bothers you." That for me is very reassuring. To top if off... they have very pleasant, competent and indeed patient staff. Amanda knew when to suggest and when to step back and let us come to a decision in our own time. They may have done hundreds of installations but they respected just how important each element and decision was for our living space. I never felt I was being sold or pushed something yet I did feel Amanda and team Newcastle were always there to respond if I had a question. If you are doing a big job then do yourself a favour, get on the motorway and at least visit Newcastle's showroom. Speak to Amanda and let her paint you a picture of what Newcastle can deliver for you. I'm glad my wife and I made that decision to visit. I have never lived in a house that is so functional and aesthetically pleasing. Everyday I am happy with our decision to engage Newcastle to help create our home. Photos to follow.

When we were designing our new house extension and renovation, we knew the kitchen was going to be central to the architects design and our wishes, so we spent literally months researching various kitchen companies. In the end, we chose Newcastle Design for the project. From the first meeting with the designer, Ronan, we knew we had made the right decision. Ronan took great care in showing us myriad options for design and function and took great care to understand exactly what we wanted as far as utility and design. Once we had all agreed the design, they helped us choose exactly the right appliances for the work space, again taking into consideration the way we were going to be using our new kitchen. After the design process, we met with Clive, the colour consultant who came out to the construction site and helped us choose the right colours for the new kitchen to blend into the newfound light the extension and works had created. In addition to the kitchen colours, Clive took the time to help us choose a colour scheme for the rest of the house that would ensure everything seamlessly blended together. Phillip then came out to the house multiple times to consult with the electricians and builder to make sure all the electrics, plumbing and measurements were perfect for the coming kitchen. He then supervised the final installation. And continued to consult with us as we settled into our new kitchen to see if there were any tweaks that might be needed to improve it's functionality such as drawer inserts or silverware drawers. When it came time to the installation of the new kitchen, the installation team were fantastic. They took great care to ensure nothing was damaged in the house and were meticulous in their measurements and workmanship. They were all pleasant and professional and took great care to keep the work site clean and tidy during the installation. In the end we were so pleased with the whole process, we had them design built in units for either side of our chimney breast in consultation with our architect which turned out fantastic. I can't recommend Newcastle Design enough. From the design process through the installation all the way through to the completed project, they were only a phone call away and would come to the site quickly if there were any questions or problems. The quality of workmanship and value for money were outstanding. Thanks to the whole team at Newcastle, we have the kitchen we had always wanted. It's a real showpiece at the centre of our new house. I highly recommend them.

I hired Newcastle Design to design and install our kitchen. I found them to be very professional throughout the whole design and implementation. Ronan Carey and his team listened to our needs, answered our queries and then designed a stylish kitchen that aligned to what we wanted. Ronan has very practical as well as creative ideas. Clive gave us great colour advice and helped us finish the kitchen off with advice on lights, blinds as well as the kitchen table and chairs.
