Iska Design

My ultimate experience with Iska design was not positive. What started out as a small one room project evolved into a bigger project involving 5 rooms. Karin was for most part of the project friendly and helpful but I now realise that her service lacked formal structure and follow up. She appeared to give willingly of her time as she ambled through my house,rarely taking notes with promises of links/follow ups which didn't always materialise. Everything always felt easy going and friendly. I engaged "her painter" to paint a large part of my house. I was told he was a "teeny tiny" bit more expensive but a "perfectionist". In reality, he was a LOT more expensive who charged extra for everything which Karin freely passed onto me including a €150 diesel fee. I had to end the job prematurely due to extra costs and poor work quality. After paying Karin almost 8k for painting I still had to engage another painter myself to finish. Despite this, I continued on the project with Karin who I told multiple times I wanted to look at the big ticket items.....curtains and blinds for my hall and bedroom. She came once to my house for these but ended consult early due to emergency which is fine. We never looked at curtains for my bedroom ever. When I got in touch with Karin to try to arrange this, I was met with what I can only describe as utter contempt and all by what's app. As a client who had paid her approx 8k in painters fees, 2.5k for fabrics etc & 1k in consulting fees at that point, I at least expected a phone call. I still owed her €487.50 which was 50% of her remaining consultation fees due on completion. As I had a long list of promised links and items to be decided and curtains/blinds for two rooms still to be chosen, the projects were not complete and hence not paid. At this point, I, as a client stupidly ended up apologising that the projects had run over and had to defend myself......by text. I had to compose a document outlining the substantial outstanding items She did reply to me on everything but the quality of her work was not as before with bizarre suggestions such as a Hollywood mirror for my coastal bedroom. She did with a degree of reluctance agree to meet me once more in a hotel in relation to the curtains but would not come to my house without charge. She ended her last correspondence to me the day before we met with a contemptuous underlined instruction to pay the balance due and send evidence of same before she met me the following day. Out of respect for myself, I cancelled the appointment, paid the bill and ended the project. I am so annoyed at how Karin treated me. There is now a taint on everything I choose in my home as part of this project. She gave too freely of her time without structure. I didn't engage an interior designer to get a link to a Hollywood mirror or a lamp from Next. She gave too freely of her tine without structure. Big ticket items like curtains should be the backbone of any interior design service.

Karin was a pleasure to work with at all times. From the start she made several suggestions, in order to determine our preferences. She then expanded on these, providing drawings, which helped us visualise our makeover. She helped choose some beautiful paint colours and window blinds and was excellent at recommending the extra details to finish off the project. I would have no hesitation in recommending Karin.

Karin has been so wonderful to work with. She exceeded my expectations of what an interior designer would do in every way. She really gets a feel of the room and understands what her client is looking for. The material, textures and colours she uses are beautiful, simplistic and calming. Our room is still a work in progress and I can't wait to complete it fully with the remainder of the furniture and accessories that she has suggested. Her simple Scandi style is elegant and refreshing. Not only is she an amazing interior designer, she is an absolutely lovely person to work with. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone doing an interior project.

Karin was excellent helping us with a room we called the warehouse! It’s now a gorgeous family room that we all love. Karin had ideas that we’d never have thought of hence why can highly recommend Iska Design!

What can we say - Karin was simply fantastic to deal with and way exceeded our expectations from an interior design service. We loved everything than Karin delivered in the plan, which catered for our taste and blended with the rest of the house. We would certainly never have achieved the end product that we have without Karin. She is so creative and professional and has been simply a pleasure to deal with. Iska provides a really professional service. Took lots of time to listen to my ideas about the look and atmosphere I are tying to create. Provided so many creative ideas. Karin has been fantastic to work with. From the start Karin was a delight, very affable and fun! She helped us with colours, layout, furniture and over all look!
