“We hired Eva to carry out a "Refine" consultation. We needed her help to turn our recent extension project into a more finished, polished and welcoming home. Our brief was very loose: we needed Eva to improve flow and functionality, and then recommend ways to improve the overall look and feel. For this consultation, she first talked to us to learn how we lived in the space – to understand what we felt worked, and what we felt didn't. She then got us to (literally!) roll up our sleeves as we rearranged the basic layout of each room to show what would work better. This was really transformative. Within a few minutes, we could all see how problem rooms could be improved. Simply through better placement of furniture, Eva was able to create a better space. This allowed us to see what we needed to help to bring this new layout come to life. The consultation allowed us to see a new vision of our home, before we start the process of furnishing, carpentry and decoration needed to realise this plan.”

“We bought a small 2 bed cottage on a dream site in January 2012. As it was over 15 years old, we needed to completely upgrade, including insulation , new windows and doors, new kitchen, new bathrooms etc, as well as building a substantial dining room / sun room extension and renovating the attic, to maximise the potential of the property. We now have a wonderful, light filled 4 bedroom home which is warm, snug and works for our life style and needs. This has taken four years in stages, and is still a work in progress. Jackie has worked with me right through the process, liaising with the Architect, the builder and various tradesmen. I found her well capable and competent in dealing with all the subcontractors and being quietly insistent when necessary to get things correct and to specification. I found Jackie to be always willing to listen and not too hung up on her own ideas, she would present suggestions and ideas to me, but I never felt pressured , the element of choice was always there. As I was working outside my own comfort zone, I felt I could trust Jackie and so I let her make many decisions for me, particularly regarding space and colours, which are strong attributes of Jackie's. She would just suggest things, that I wouldn't in a million years have thought of myself - it was very exciting at times. Finally, it always came back to budget, Jackie drilled it into me - anything is possible, but we need to work from the budget. It was frustrating at times to be brought back to a reality check , but it did ensure I never got carried away. From Jackie's point of view, it may have been frustrating for her also, as the bulk of the budget did have to go for structural work, and we have had to compromise on the interiors to some extent. For example, it would have been lovely to replace all the existing floors, and completely re-furnish, but Jackie was always aware of budget constraints and worked very well to blend in our existing furniture with some well thought out new pieces. Next phase is an upgrading of the front porch, and possibly new floors throughout the old part of the cottage, and I will of course be continuing to work with Jackie for some time to come. To sum up - a thoroughly professional approach from Jackie, combined with her respect for our home and our thoughts about it, along with her strong talents for space, style and colour , helped enormously in this major project for us. It could have been very stressful, but in the end, it was great to know that we had Jackie in our corner. I also loved that Jackie was willing to do so much by e mail and electronically - as a busy business owner myself, it meant that I didn't always have to make time to meet, I could review progress, designs etc. at my own time. That was a real plus in dealing with Jackie Carton. I am happy to give references to any potential client.”
