“Can't talk-up enough good things to say about TC and his crew (especially Beth, his lead supervisor) for the bang-up job they did at our home in Del Mar. We were going to hire an interior designer for color ideas and furnishings but TC recommended a few color ideas (and with the help of Houzz.com)...and we went with most of those. Also, I am completely enamored with Houzz--what an awesome resource...and it's free! I have the app on my iPhone and recommend it to all my friends looking for design ideas. They were extremely courteous and respectful of our property, and blessfully patient with our rambunctious kids. They kept us in the loop every day and we were so thrilled with the work in progress, we added an office room plus our kitchen cabinets. They also did a really cool chalkboard paint wall that our kids love. We've had various trades in our home and I have to say these guys were the cleanest, neatest and friendliest of the bunch. That goes a long way in my book! Already recommending to my neighbor and workmates. I would award 6 stars if I could!!!”

“Poseidon Remodeling updated 2 bathrooms in our house including the master. We got bids from 3 different places and not only was Poseidon's bid very competitive but Zoran, the owner, just seemed like the right guy for the job. He walked us through every step of the project and while construction can be stressful at times, he was very responsive whenever we had questions before and during the remodel. His crew showed up on time every day and Nick, who did most of the work on our project, did an amazing job. The work was completed on schedule and budget. There was an issue at first with the drainage in the shower but they were very professional and resolved it quickly. Both bathrooms look beautiful and are everything we hoped they would be. We would recommend Poseidon for any home improvement project and look forward to working with them in the future.”

“I hired Groysman Construction to do remodeling of the kitchen in my house and also to add high-efficiency high-airflow fans in two bathrooms. The remodeling was largely limited to replacing old appliances by the new ones. This required the electrical wires and terminals be replaced and the existing cabinets be modified to fit to the new appliances. Regarding installation of the fans, Groysman Construction discovered that existing ducts were too narrow and did not match the new fans' specifications. They proposed the ducts be replaced and they offered for that part of the job only very small fee, which surprised me a lot (pleasantly surprised, I might add). The overall job was done very well and in the promised time. In my estimation the total fee for the job was very competitive. I was very satisfied with Groysman Construction. Why hire a San Diego home builder to create your dream home?


Often, when buying a property, there are things that are not quite to your taste that you would change, or get rid of. Even if you have the money and skilled workers, it is difficult to create something that is exactly as you’d like given that you are building on something that already exists. It could be that the layout of your property is just not how you would have chosen it to be had you been starting from scratch. For some people, having the perfect home is very important and the only way to achieve this is to build from the ground up with the help of a San Diego home builder. How do you look for the right home builder?


When looking for a San Diego building company to take on your project, you will want to know that they will be able to handle the job in good time and sticking to your agreed budget. A professional builder will have worked on projects like yours previously and they will know exactly what to do.

Your architect’s plans will serve as clear instructions to your builder and, if the former has done their job well, you should also avoid any nasty surprises with the local council. Finding the right builder need not be a long or difficult process. Personal recommendations aside, a good place to start is the Home Builders in San Diego category of the Find a Pro section on Houzz, where you can see their previous work and ask questions.

Compile a shortlist of at least three builders in San Diego that can handle the full scope of works, either by themselves or through sub-contracting. It is often a good idea to play devil’s advocate and ask what the builder will not be responsible for, such as structural engineer consultations. Be wary of unusually cheap quotes. Ask for references and stories about how the builder has met different challenges along the way. If you can, you could try to see builders’ previous projects in person and talk to previous clients, or if not, read reviews, recommendations and ratings, and look at detailed photos of projects.

Agree a clear schedule of work, an itemised and fixed quote (inclusive of VAT), and a staged payment scheme with balance to be paid subject to satisfaction. All under contract. Leave no stone unturned. Ask lots of questions.
