“In May of 2014, we moved from out of state to Wilmington into a newly built house. Knowing we would need window treatments right away, we contacted Affordable Blinds and More for help. Aaron Pruesser worked with us to insure our blinds and shades were ready and installed prior to moving day. We have been very pleased with Aaron's experience, knowledge and his recommendations for the best treatment for each window. Later in the summer, we called Aaron to ask if Affordable Blinds and More has any products designed for use on a screened porch. He suggested solar shades to reduce the amount of sun getting into the porch, and we have been very happy with them. We would recommend the firm without hesitation.”

When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
Any fabric can be used, but generally the most common types of fabric used are cotton, silk, linen, polyester, and combinations of these due to their lighter weight and insulating properties.
