She worked with us on all aspects of our new home including Exterior, Floor Plan, Kitchen, Workflow, etc. She drew on appropriate resources when needed and she never pressured us to make purchases that would have otherwise benefited her financially. “I was referred to Cheryl at Exceptional View by a friend in the housing and interior business. First, I got some pricing information from a few other window treatment vendors. Once Cheryl came for a home visit, I knew why she had been recommended. She was very affable and effective. My time with her seemed luxurious compared to other experiences I have had. She was able to help me meet my needs within my budget. Being a double amputee, I appreciate the remote controlled blinds. One hundred percent worth the extra money. Furthermore, I had quite settled on one tone when Cheryl showed me a much nicer one. Her experience and eye for décor paid off as the first ones would have been to dull or gray. When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
