The first on site meeting we explained what we wanted,Declan give ideas and quick sketches to show us what we could achieve. “People say that building a house is one of the most stressful things you can do and they were not wrong. We 'survived' our house build and now we can safely say that Emmett and Fingal Planning consultants was one of the very few people that gave us consistent and sound advice/service. Our build was very complicated due to many factors, but chiefly the type of the house, a low-energy "passive house"-style, the location and having several contractors involved posed the greatest challenges. Emmett guided us through the process in his trademark no-nonsense approach and we were very lucky to have him when trying to manage all the stakeholders that a build inevitably has, like authorities, contractors, neighbours and so on. During the rough patches of the project, he always stuck by his word and actually did more than he originally signed up for. When Emmett says he will do something he does it; he is open, honest, and little ruffles his feathers - a much needed attribute when emotions are high and money is low! “We contacted Jim initially for ideas only for our house which had been bothering us for some time due to a poor layout, dark, pokey rooms, lack of storage and poor access to our back garden. We were delighted with some of the ideas he came up with, some of them incredibly simple, and we hired him to design what turned out to be a modest extension, with other renovations and alterations, all of which which have totally transformed our house. Jim took care of the statutory approvals and organised a first class builder, and the works were finished exactly within our agreed budget. We are absolutely delighted with the finished result and would have no hesitation in recommending Jim to anyone thinking of home improvements.”

“Sarah did the most incredible job for us with our reconfiguring of the back rooms downstairs in our house, including knocking down walls, putting in new windows and doors, and changing the use of several rooms. She was very patient as she took us through the ideas and planning stages, helping us understand the decisions that needed to be made and guided us through the planning process smoothly. She totally understood what we were aiming for and was enthusiastic about the work. The end result is one we are delighted with - it is an easy space to live in and we love how it looks.
