Working with people is what I like most - I get close with the family and I help to choose the colours, finishes, furniture. It's such a delicate thing, when you are aware of someone's savings that you're spending - it's personal to them and it is important for me to meet the family and their needs. Every time I meet clients, it's like a job interview. I need to know what they need straight away, sense what they like in two seconds, and satisfy them with my portfolio along with the ideas on the spot. They tell me what they envision and in few minutes, I draw up a sketch or two. Once we come to an agreement, I can take the measurements and the process can start. I think this openness with my clients is why so many people recommend me. Your living space is the vital space, and it's what I focus on. I see every building as a prototype to be defined and designed by it's owner. Its colour, the taste and the way of living is unique. I understand the importance of those factors and, inspired by you, will create a space to harness your specific needs and routines. When it comes to making wishes come true, there isn't an inch to be wasted. I will help you build your dream home. I was born in Krakow where there is a very old architectural history and culture which includes Romanesque and Art Deco right through to Contemporary. My father is also an architect, and with his support I studied in the College of Architecture in Krakow University of Technology. I’ve been awarded an M.Sc.Eng. Arch, a Masters Degree in Architecture and Urban Design, I am accredited to The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and I am a Member of The Royal Institute Of the Architects of Ireland. I joined the award winning practice, Moloney O'Beirne Architects, in 2005 and gained a lot of vital experience. It's very important to make the right space for a client, and my time with Moloney O'Beirne Architects made me focus on every detail of a project - giving me great patience for future briefs. They had commercial clients and lot of clients in the residential sector who needed their houses fitted for special needs; upgrades and accessibility. That gave me great experience at all levels of design and the confidence to start my own practice."

Following graduation Stephen worked in several well known practices before setting up his own Architectural studio over thirty years ago. Forming good relationships with clients is the key to successful projects. He begins every project with a client meeting to discuss not only the functional requirements but also likes and dislikes. Years ago he would suggest to clients that they rip pages out of magazines and make two piles - images they like and just as importantly those they don't. Nowadays, Houzz Ideabooks are the starting point ! Next he carries out a detailed, measured and photographic survey of the site and house as applicable so that they can be accurately 'drawn up'. Once in the computer the fun starts - the merging of ideas and the restraints of the building and site. With an initial scheme in hand and a tracing paper pad it's back to the clients. Often more ideas emerge at this meeting and after an intense hour or two something magical frequently appears. Once the preliminary design is agreed by all, the planning application process with the preparation of developed drawings begins. The next stage is another exciting one as now the real detailed design and selection of materials and finishes begins, culminating with the issuing of a comprehensive set of construction drawings, specifications and health & safety documents for tendering purposes. Stephen has a panel of excellent builders. A building contract is signed, commencement notices issued and the JCBs arrive on site. During the build site meetings take place on a weekly or fortnightly basis, involving clients, builder and architect - a three way conversation from which great ideas translate to even better reality. To keep everyone on their toes minutes including time and cost updates are issued and when all is finished and everyone is happy Stephen issues certification with the Planning Permission and the Building Regulations as applicable. The primary elements of Architecture are space and light. These ethereal elements do not cost anything. It is only when we enclose them that cost is introduced.
