Walsh + Walsh Architects had completely transformed a very unattractive dark old townhouse belonging to a friend of mine so when it came to doing a major renovation on my own 50's terraced house they were top of my list of architects to approach. I am so glad that I did that, I always knew the house with west facing garden had potential and Alan has realised that potential bringing the same aesthetic, the same attention to detail and element of surprise to the reconfiguration and extension of my house as Ed did to my friend's house years ago. The renovation has far exceeded my expectations and has transformed what was a conventional 2 up 2 down with galley kitchen that had become a confined living space into a house that supports entertaining, relaxation and working from home while losing none of the mid century feeling of the house. I recommend you putting your faith in Walsh + Walsh Architects and going on a creative journey with them, you won't be disappointed.

We engaged the services of Walsh & Walsh Architects while building a new clinic in Clonmel. We had been working with another architectural company and things weren’t working out. To say that we were reluctant to engage the services of another company is a dramatic understatement, as at that stage we were tired and lacking in faith. Walsh & Walsh came recommended from our builder. I called them after 5pm on a Friday evening in a panic, I expected to get a voicemail; instead, Ed answered, listened and asked if I was free to call in now to see if he could help. I was in Aldi doing my weekly shopping while on the call, I dropped the shopping and ran out the door. I drove to their office in Cahir, burst in the door and started blurting out everything that had gone wrong the previous 3 months, all the things I needed and what I felt was missing. Ed and Alan sat back and listened to my semi-incomprehensible rant and then calmly explained what they could do, when they could do it and what they would require to do it. They explained that it is uncommon for an architect to take over the work of another, and that they were already busy with other projects, but they were willing to help as they could see that we were badly stuck. Ed went to our site that same evening to meet with our project manager to get an idea of the scale of the problem, which I was very grateful for. Both Ed and Alan were available to us whenever we had questions no matter how big or small, I could WhatsApp them at any time and they would come straight back to me with an answer. Alan has a great eye and is very detail orientated. I felt that Alan’s ideas were closely aligned with mine, in terms of how something should look and feel. Alan is very hands-on and spent much of his time with us on site liaising with every single contractor from lighting, plumbing, plastering, interior design, electrical, flooring, joiners, carpenters, and painters etc. On several occasions we found it difficult to source certain items such as a bespoke reception desk or a retail display unit etc. Alan took the time to utilise his contacts to source these items for us. The items that arrived were of superior quality, delivered on time and within budget. One of the most important aspects of managing this build was budget. We wanted a high-end look, but our budget was relatively limited. Alan got this concept from day one and ran with it. If our interior designer had recommended something and it was outside of our budget, Alan would come up with an alternative. This alone made our lives so much easier, as we were able to achieve the look we wanted within budget. Our opening day was October the 5th. The last contractor left the site October 4th, and we were in! This was an exceptional feat considering the mess the project had been left in. For Ed and Alan to step into a situation like that and still manage to get us in on time and within budget is nothing short of a miracle. We will be forever grateful.

I have spent my professional engineering life as a building contractor and developer. Walsh and Walsh in my view compose with extraordinary design and art, beautiful, elegant and timeless buildings, including my extended family’s homes.

We would have to say Walsh & Walsh Architects were a pleasure to deal with, we wanted to renovate our 1940s cottage and we contacted Walsh & Walsh to complete the drawings for us. They took our cottage and turned it into a sleek modern streamlined structure whilst keeping many of the original features. The result is just superb, and the house is our dream home. Ed and Alan provided an excellent service throughout the process, they were always available with advice and recommendations. We would highly recommend Walsh & Walsh Architects.

I engaged Alan, Walsh & Walsh Architects, to undertake a renovation on our property in Lahinch. The original house floorplan was underwhelming, we challenged Alan with creating a more open house feel & increase the footprint to compliment great views on offer at the site. The resulting design alterations, annex additions & solutions proposed by Alan were excellent. In addition ,throughout the renovation project phases, solutions have been creative, timely & aligned with budgets where possible. Walsh & Walsh Architects are highly recommended.
