ABA Architects (formerly known as Anthony Brabazon Associates) was formed in March 1993 by sole practitioner Anthony Brabazon. The practice is located in Sandymount, Dublin 4 and has handled an average of 60 new projects each year since 1993 and provides a wide range of services across the architectural spectrum.
Apart from the refurbishment and extension of a mews house in Kensington in 1994 all the projects have been carried out in Ireland with the highest concentration being in the South Dublin area. New houses have been provided in counties Clare, Wicklow, Offaly, Meath, Kildare while over 100 projects have been carried out in University College Dublin at Belfield and their outlying campus’, the most notable one being the recently completed Oakmount Creche Extension (see photo above).
Recently conservation work has become a part of the portfolio with the completion of a 5 unit renovation on Rathmines Road, a restoration of a 3 storey over basement Georgian terraced house on Herbert Place and sundry works to other protected structures in Dublin. Planning advice and feasibility studies have also formed a significant element of the workload.
Apartment developments have been carried out at Wellington Quay and Monkstown Farm and a mixed commercial scheme at Walkinstown Cross.

We recently appointed ABA Architects to transform a two bedroom cottage in complete need of a rebuild. Anthony and his team listened to what we wanted to achieve. The plans ABA came back with were more then we hoped for. We now have a beautiful two bedroomed cottage which is filled with open space , light wraps around the cottage, due to the high ceilings and additional windows. The exterior of the cottage has remained in tact and still has its beautiful brickwork. But wow, what a surprise when the cottage door is opened. I could to recommend ABA highly enough.

Anthony, ABA Architects worked on 2 residential projects over the last four years which were very different in their brief but I'm delighted with the outcome of both . Anthony's professionalism, attention to design and good taste required for the particular setting is excellent. His skill and clear thinking in troubleshooting inevitable minor onsite problems was a great comfort to have at one's elbow also during the projects.
I would recommend Anthony to anyone who is interested in re-furbishing their home to turn it unobtrusively into a warmer, brighter and more comfortable space to live.
Thank you Anthony.

We engaged ABA Architects on a recent project to renovate a Georgian Dublin home. This was a tricky project as we needed to have it changed from office use to a three bed ensuite house. The fact that there were no bathrooms made this task more difficult to complete within a three month timeframe. Both the builder and I had some solid ideas and it was Anthony’s job to marry them all together - not an easy task with two strong personalities. Anthony had his own expert way of managing both of us to exact what he thought would reinstate this house to a fine Georgian Residence. His attention to detail can be seen in all rooms, most especially the bathrooms, where light and space were an issue. I would be more than happy to work again with ABA Architects, as their professionalism and courtesy shown to clients was evident throughout the whole project.

We bought a mid terrace, three bedroom house in a very dilapidated state. With the complete guidance of Anthony at ABA Architects we built a two story extension to include a large open plan garden room leading on to a patio ( though double sliding doors ), a kitchen complete with utility and downstairs toilet, an extension to the master bedroom and an en-suite. As we walk from the hall into the living area we are met with a curved wall on the right which houses the downstairs toilet and utility. It is a superb feature, one we are delighted with and which every guest compliments. The build went very smoothly considering the size of the job and to have Anthony project manager for us was fantastic. No stone was left un-turned. We now have a beautiful, comfortable home. We are delighted with the end result.

Commented: Love the floor tiles. Is it stone or porcelain?Porcelain. Easy clean. If stone, like limestone, was used a proper sealer would be essential.
