Aart Custom Shutters

I highly recommend Aart custom shutters. My Manhattan apartment is on the back of our building, and doesn't have a great view. As such, we wanted a window treatment option that would allow us to block the bottom portion of the windows but not block a lot of light. During our search for a solution, we visited most of the NYC's big-name window treatment stores. We didn't great customer service, and the options were extremely expensive. Most didn't offer or recommend shutters, only fabric/motorized shades - not the look that we were going for. I'm glad I called Aart - they arrived promptly to measure and explain how they could build out the shutters in a way that would allow me to still access the windows for cleaning. Not only are the shutters the "look" that I want, they came in at a better value than the shade options I explored. The installation was quick, easy and I'm really pleased with the results. It also means a lot, especially now, to support a local, family business that does great work.

I wanted wood shutters for my home and had trouble finding someone who offered traditional narrow shutters. Frank at Aart Custom Shutters had several shutter options and offered a wide selection of finishes. Frank was even able to point out several of his previous jobs in my neighborhood, a hotel and a doctor's office, and both looked terrific. Frank quickly took measurements and before I knew it the shutters were ready for installation. I can't stress enough how these shutters transformed my new home. We installed shutters on all but bathroom windows and they looked better than I could have imagined, it was a smart investment as now I have consistent window treatments throughout and don't have to worry about drapery fading or blinds breaking. Shutters allow me to completely open up or entirely close my windows, cutting down on light damage and keeping my place cool in the warmer months. I was so happy with Aart Shutters work, I called Frank back in to install shutters on my bathroom windows - one of these bathrooms is wood paneled and Frank managed to recommend a finish that exactly matched, something I was especially thrilled with. The overall installation was remarkably quick, Frank and his respectful team were good to work with and despite all the packing material that came in with the shutters, when they left, so did all this material. They helped move some furniture when needed and when they left it was as if the shutters had always been there. I can't recommend Frank and Aart Custom Shutters more highly. I would hire them again (if I had any more windows).
