When we purchased the house, we had a “reddish” walnut butchers block kitchen island countertop that stood out like a sore thumb in the kitchen and it was one of the main things (aside from the original lighting) that I wanted to change in the kitchen. And then after furnishing the house with RH in soft whites and grays, it became even more of an eye-sore. I had searched the city of Houston high and low for someone to help with a solution. After coming across The Reclaimed Wood Shop, I knew that I had found the answer. While we had originally planned to replace the countertop with reclaimed distressed oak in a gray finish, Raul thought that he might be able to salvage the existing wood so he experimented and came up with a solution to use the existing wood and created a piece an absolute piece of artwork that we get continued compliments on as it is so unique. This far exceeded my expectations and what I could have ever asked for. In fact, people that originally saw the house with the old countertop can’t believe their eyes that it’s the same piece of wood. Raul is AMAZING and a true artist and knows his craft. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Raul and The Reclaimed Wood Shop for any unique projects as they will not disappoint.

We use the Reclaimed Wood Shop for all our reclaimed beams, barn doors and any antique looking door we need for our custom homes. They have also made furniture pieces for us too. Aside from the product looking awesome, the service is fantastic. Raul, the owner, is a really nice person and very professional. He is also super talented!! We started using them back in 2014 and currently do many project a year with them. If you need reclaimed wood for any project I would contact him first.

Raul did an extraordinary job on some reclaimed wood accents we used at various locations in the house. The wood turned out so beautiful and the stain was such a good match to some existing furniture. Price and turn around time was excellent. I will definitely be recommending Raul to more clients.
