Big pictures are made of little details, and that’s what Susan Currie is all about. She brings her unique, detail-oriented expertise to your design project and creates truly fabulous interiors. But don’t let this attention to detail fool you, Susan also brings a lot of fun and funk to her projects to ensure each one is unique to her clients, their lifestyles, and personalities. Color is a passion of Susan’s and working brilliant hues into a space is a fun challenge for her. Introducing pops of color through artwork and accessories can make a space and are Susan’s trademark to creating luxury New Orleans interiors. Lucky for her clients, Susan has the ability to blend her personality and design style with a polished professionalism that will make working with her not only an easy decision at the start of a project, but one you’ll thank yourself for over and over through the project’s completion. She is an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and one of only 25 Certified Aging in Place Specialists (CAPS) in the greater New Orleans area. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University, Susan chose to follow her desires and do what she always wanted to, become a designer. At that point, she worked to earn her associates degree in Interior Design from Delgado Community College. Susan has lived and worked in the Southeast and Southwest. During her time in Atlanta, she served as Director for the Georgia Chapter of the ASID and currently enjoys residing in The Big Easy, where the people, architecture and food are almost equally inspirational to designing New Orleans’ high-end interiors! It’s through her travels, places she’s lived, artwork, and gardening that Susan draws inspiration. A shopping trip with her to a favorite antique store or art gallery can lead the way to a new, luxury interior, as well as a quite a few laughs. I engaged Susan Currie Design to improve my home and my life so that I can continue to live as independently as possible as I age. Susan and her team accomplished this with grace. They found attractive and functional solutions for new furniture that would blend with what I already had. They even went so far as to find me a stylish lift chair and sleep-to-stand bed. Susan listened to my needs and was respectful throughout the design process. I can now have guests over to my apartment and feel proud to show off my space and move around with ease. As I told Susan, “I need to change my life, and you are going to help me do it,” and she did just that.

Thank goodness I called Susan when I finally decided to replace the living room and family room carpet with hardwood floors. She recommended going with white oak after I described the look we wanted. She brought in Damian - a real craftsman - to do the work. We are absolutely thrilled with the way the floors look. In addition to refreshing the family room by replacing the furniture, painting, and changing the cornice and dining room chair fabric, we replaced the old recessed lights with modern LED ones. Susan knows the best painters, electricians, plumbers (we also put in a tankless hot water heater), carpenters, lighting people, and electronic tech people. Susan and her team managed the whole project It was well coordinated. When there was a small problem, she handled it in a timely fashion. She knows how to put together furniture, fabric and color that really give a beautiful look when all is done. I highly recommend Susan Currie Design for anyone who wants an expert’s guidance with their home project.

Susan Currie Design was the interior design company selected for a residential condo in New Orleans that I ended up listing for sale. The company helped with the selection of / design aesthetics regarding window treatments, furniture, various home furnishings, etc. When the condo was shown to potential buyers, I received similar comments, such as how nicely designed the condo was and how well the condo showed, especially with all the beautiful furnishings selected. Ultimately, the condo was sold fully furnished :)

Susan will take in all that a customer wants in a finished project and cater to your needs and give you lots of options for colors, designs and patterns. When we were looking for a professional designer that also had an architectural background to plan our whole home renovation, we need someone that could strike a balance between my mid-century modern preferences and my wife's more traditional, Indian style. Susan's process was very helpful so that the end design we were ultimately looking for was considered in the planning stage of the renovation. We started working with Susan in September 2016 and, though our project is not complete, we were very pleased with the plans she designed and are beginning our project in December 2017. The budget did get higher that we anticipated for the planning phase compared to the total construction costs, but this is something you should consider when working with any contractor as the project evolves or lengthens. Susan and her team are very professional and provided a personal and friendly touch when approaching out project and designing a home that will best serve our family.
