David Shields of Equus, Inc., is an extremely knowledgeable, easy-to-work-with, trustworthy, reliable, detail oriented and thorough individual who provided contractor services for me on a 3 month project in 4Q 2015. I would highly recommend his services. My project consisted of several elements: David constructed a new portale on the exterior of my home, changed the flow of water off the roof of the house, rebuilt an entire exterior wall that had rotted and installed a new sliding glass door, and lastly installed two heating/AC units in my home. I met with David several times during the summer to map out the project but I was not physically on site during the actual construction (my primary home is in another city). David emailed photos almost every day to keep me updated and to ensure that I was satisfied with work as it progressed. Work was completed on time, as scheduled. I have worked with two other contractors in the past whose services I would not recommend. I would highly recommend undertaking a project with David Shields and Equus, Inc.

David Shields of Equus, Inc. is now my go-to contractor for home jobs large and small in my plaster-walled Northern New Mexico pitched-roof abode territorial style home. David installed 4 a/c units in my second floor bedrooms, which became uncomfortably warm and stuffy from summer afternoon heat. The a/c units are effective, efficient, quiet and well positioned for maximum aesthetic appearance. David has helped me with a noisy bathroom fan, stuck garage door, kitchen appliance install requiring a custom fit within pre-existing cabinets. Most recently, David completed a total laundry room remodel, which involved fabrication of cabinets to match existing cabinetry, custom installation of new appliances, solid surface countertop fitting, sink and faucet installation, plaster repair, painting, tile-setting and proper hanging of racks and art on plaster walls. I am most pleased with the end result. David is a great listener, creative problem solver, experienced in all aspects of subcontracting and has access to skilled subs. He is reliable, attentive of my time constraints and privacy. He is organized, neat and tidy upon finishing each day. Charges are consistent with quotes. David provides excellent communication throughout the job with timely emails and photos showing his progress. I highly recommend David Shield and Equus, Inc. for home construction and renovation needs.

I had a somewhat complex renovation/restoration and David and Equus was the only builder/contractor that took the time to carefully review the needs and requirements. The work was done on schedule and executed well. I have very high standards and David met them and continues to be a go to resource for home construction projects.

David Shields did an excellent job remodeling my 1985 kitchen. He made it "new", but kept the Santa Fe look and feel, which is why we bought the house. He replaced the counter tops without destroying the backsplash (something two other contractors said could not be done). He added cabinets in the same style and finish of the old ones and you cannot tell the difference. He replaced all of the appliances, moving some for a better work triangle. He added a custom made island and a large kitchen desk. Now I love working in my kitchen!
