Kitchen & Bath By Design

Kitchen and Bath by Design replaced our bathroom shower tile and countertops and sinks and did an excellent job. Frank has excellent craftsmanship and will go above and beyond to make sure the customer is happy. Rhonda is very helpful planning, and they have a great selection of high quality products in their showroom. Also, they are very responsive after the job is completed. We had a small issue with a shower door (through no fault of KBD; it was a mfr. defect) and they took care of if promptly.

I would highly recommend Kitchen & Bath By Design. Rhonda Nicholson has worked with us on our extensive kitchen remodel as well as master bath and with her expertise, both projects went as smoothly as could be expected. She is good at getting to know her customers and ascertaining styles, likes/dislikes and assessing needs. I felt listened to as we discussed our projects and was comfortable with selections because I felt we were working with an expert that would successfully guide us through the process. Deadlines and budgets were met and even with some glitches from the cabinet company, Rhonda made sure our project stayed on the schedule.

We hired this company to do a complete kitchen remodel. They did a fantastic job! Their craftsmanship and attention to detail was impeccable. The workers were prompt, courteous, and easy to work with. We were so glad we found someone who still takes great pride in their work. It seems in todays world that craftsmanship has gone out of style. We can assure you that it is alive and well in Rockford, Michigan. We used KBbD for part of our bathroom remodel. We thought we could save money by doing some of the work ourselves or hiring it out to a friend. In hindsight, we didn’t save all that much and it would’ve been easier to let them handle the whole thing. Rhonda and Mitch were always professional, kind, and courteous. They could have told us “no” when we asked them to do the design and shower door install only. But they offered to order us the tile and tub we loved, and we contracted out the labor. Rhonda helped me put my idea on to paper, and helped me find the perfect items to bring my vision to life. It all took much longer than expected, mostly due to the shower surround factory screwing up twice, but the final result is beautiful! I highly recommend them for your next kitchen or bath remodel!

We love our bathrooms. Rhonda helped us match everything and the price was lower than most estimates we got. Our neighbor liked it so well that they also had Rhonda design their bathroom.

Let me start this by saying I am not easy to please. I never hide this from contractors. We wanted to put in new bath vanities, counter tops, sinks and a medicine cabinet, We chose Kitchen and Bath because they could do all facets of the project. We had remodeled the rest of the bathrooms a few years ago but did not do this portion. We used a different remodeler for that and I am now unhappy that I did not use them again, even though they would have been more expensive. Their price was competitive, not high or low, and they seemed to know what they are doing. We ordered the materials and awaited install. I must say it took a long time to get the product and even longer to get the counter tops once they measured. The install went OK and we love the counter tops. The cabinets were also good and Frank (Rhonda's husband and the lead installer) did a good job installing them and there were some challenges. They look good and work well - they are soft close drawers and doors, which were a mandate for the job. The problem came in the form of the sinks and plumber. The Karran sinks look very nice, but we got the large (Oxford) ones and they just don't drain completely because of a design flaw. They shipped out new ones and they did the same so we were force to go with a different design. They drain better but still not great. The net, net is that the water sits in the sink and leaves water stains on the acrylic. The only solution is to wipe them out after each use, not a great solution. We will have to use a powder cleaner (like Comet) to keep them looking nice and those cleaners are corrosive but recommended by Karran. And Karran, at least at the beginning, was very rude about accepting any blame. Three sinks later and they were more contrite. The plumbing installers were another problem. They left marks on the bottom inside of the largest cabinet and claimed they didn't, even though they were the only people working inside them after the install. The there was a problem with a faucet fit (which we bought separate from the contractor) and we had to buy one new one, which they installed with the water feeds backwards and and then insisted we were wrong, even though they were reversed from the way they had installed the first two. Then we had a problem with the Grohe faucet (manufacturing defect leaving the spout wobbly) that we have not been able to resolve so we have ordered another Danse like the one we replaced earlier, which is a beautiful faucet. The net net is that Rhonda seems to be a hard working, sincere and honest person and is quite patient. Frank is a good installer and is dogged in trying to get it right. But do not get Karran sinks and watch the plumber like a hawk. They know their stuff but did not seem to want to take responsibility for the small errors on their part. But, we now have a very nice looking bathroom, after two remodeling jobs, so I would recommend Rhonda and Frank, with the caveats cited above.

I love my kitchen. Rhonda helped me work out the details to get the most space out of our small kitchen. We now have usable cabinet space that is way more convenient and we even fit in a wider refrigerator! The Pioneer cabinets are built so square and solid that my contractor has decided to recommend them to all his customers. For the quality and service we received, our new kitchen was a real value.

Rhonda and Mitch made it exceptionally easy to ensure that we were getting the counter and backsplash that we needed. They even gave us the large squares to bring home to our kitchen to ensure that we liked the colors in our lighting conditions as much as we liked them in the store.

We were kept informed of the ordering and progress as well as status of the job. The team met all commitments and timelines. They even went above and beyond to insure our satisfaction. I believe the pricing was very competitive on both the material and labor. The installation was performed with a high level of craftsmanship.
