I've been a friend of Robert (and Tim) for more years than I can remember, and on several occasions, a client as well. Most notably, Robert designed a kitchen for me in a late 40s California ranch house in Portola Valley, probably built from a Sunset Magazine design, and in all respects -function, appearance, elegance, and pleasure - it was a superb kitchen. Robert is meticulous, smart, aesthetically and culturally savvy, and dogged in achieving results that may seem seamless in their integration into an existing context and results that are at the same time gorgeous and even magical. The work he and his team do is the very best.

The scope of our work together has included extensive remodeling of our existing home and new construction of a guest house on our property. His thoughtful design is combined with great attention to detail. He is an extremely knowledgeable architect who has the ability to maintain the architectural integrity of an older home and create beautiful rooms for today's living.

Robert and his partner, Tim Kennedy, have worked with us over the years, including various interior design work and renovation of our homes in New Canaan, Connecticut, Sun Valley, Idaho and Vero Beach Florida. Robert and his team designed a complete renovation of my early 20th C California shingle style home (partly designed by William Wurster). This include seismic upgrade, complete interior renovation, creating new and better access to the garden and harmonious enhancements to the exterior. Throughout the project Robert was very collaborative and a pleasure to work with. We very much respected his deep knowledge of architecture styles and his commitment to creating a modern AND appropriate interpretation of the house's original style. We were delighted with the result.

RFA helped us with both a remodel and new construction as we modified the home we'd lived in for 17 years. They provided the perfect balance of respecting the original architecture while creating new structures that had the cleaner lines we were looking for. The professionals we worked with were very good at listening and responding to the ideas and dreams we had. They took our vision and made it a reality.
