I am writing as a professional that has been engaged by homeowners to provide consulting and construction oversight of Energy Star and Green program certified homes. Having worked with quite a few custom home builders in the St. Louis area, it is my pleasure to recommend Jeff Bogard and REA Homes. Jeff brings a unique perspective to the home buying and building process. He builds custom luxury homes that deliver on his clients dreams, are built as well as they look, and take a leadership position from a building science, energy efficiency, durability and quality perspective. My observation of too many builders is that they lack an in-depth knowledge of how a home and its systems work. In too many cases they do not know what products or services to choose for a home and they make their decisions based on choosing the low bid. As a result, builders tend to function as 'traffic cops' meaning that their main priority is to move subcontractors into and out of a job expeditiously and cheaply. While getting a low price is great, it offers no benefit if it is not the right service or quality. Jeff Bogard is a builder that 'gets it.' I regularly see him at educational seminars and have experienced first hand his dedication to understanding how to build an exceptional home. While many builder focus mostly on the things you see (like granite countertops and beautiful floors), Jeff does that PLUS he adds a ton of attention to things you don't see like heating and cooling systems, insulation systems, plumbing and more. He is an expert at paying attention to the details that ultimately affect the comfort, energy efficiency, health and safety of the home. Finally, over the years I have seen the processes that different builders employ to move a house from concept to design to construction and occupancy. Too often I have observed conflict and disappointment for many home buyers because of the attitude and priorities of their builder. Building a custom luxury home is one of the biggest emotional and financial commitments a person will ever make and it makes me sad to see people discover they picked the wrong builder when they are halfway through a project. More than anything, what motivates me to write this review is that I have never seen that happen with Jeff Bogard and REA Homes. He has structured a process that aligns his interests with those of his client and it seems like his only priority is to make sure his clients are well taken care of and fairly treated.
