We are thrilled with our new kitchen! Gordon Richardson at Oberholtzer was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process from planning through installation, guiding us as our project evolved and grew in scope significantly. We went with Oberholtzer after meeting with several recommended custom cabinetry providers. We are so glad we did! Our kitchen project required significant coordination because we did it in tandem with other major home renovation, breaking out walls, exposing beams, and laying new flooring throughout the first floor in our Victorian-era home. My husband, an engineer, opted to do the bulk of the renovation himself, including all the electric. Old houses always have surprises. Gordon was a huge asset in helping to anticipate and troubleshoot issues involving the kitchen with him. Gordon is an adaptable problem solver. He is extremely meticulous, with a keen aesthetic sense, while also being easy-going and responsive -- an unusual combination of skill sets. He was there when the countertops were measured and installed, sleuthing out a way that allowed our stone backsplash to be installed the same day as the countertops, saving several weeks of time. The cabinetry installer was a craftsman, and the cabinets are incredible quality, Lancaster-made furniture that will last a lifetime and beyond. Not only do they add enormous value and beauty to our home, but they have the craftsmanship worthy of a 150 year-old house. We had a tremendous experience with Oberholtzer Cabinetry. Our kitchen renovation project proved to be both functional and sophisticated. Our project included: 1. Removal of a wall and storage area, leading in to the garage 2. Installation of a first level porcelain floor 3. Design of an L-shaped cabinet area, which included relocation of appliances 4. Construction of a large kitchen island which included an area for microwave, storage for pots and pans, wine storage area. 5. Installation of a new window to allow natural lighting 6. Updated plumbing, lighting, and ventilation 7. Installation of backsplash and granite We must say from start to finish, there was not a single glitch as it was a well planned project with quality cabinetry, an extremely professional construction team, consideration for our needs and lifestyle. We learned of Oberholzer Cabinetry through HOUZZ. Gordon visited our home immediately after we initially contacted him. He listened and made some preliminary plans. We were most impressed by his expertise as an engineer as well as his continued commitment to a quality finished product. He took into consideration every minute detail which really proved valuable as we moved forward with design, logistics, and just the “flow” of our new kitchen. He was careful to evaluate our budget, and appreciate what what we considered to be a priority. The kitchen was entirely completed within 2 days of originally designated date. Very satisfied.

We love our kitchen renovation!!! We weren't dramatically re-configuring the kitchen / dining space; so I didn't hire a "designer". However, Gordon was a fantastic resource re design decisions: He has a great eye for both aesthetics and functionality. Every subcontractor we used, e.g., granite island / quartz counter top installer, painter, electrician, plumber, and outside stone mason, commented (without solicitation) favorably upon the beautiful cabinetry from Oberholtzer that Gordon installed. I couldn't be happier with the outcome of this long-awaited project. I haven't yet made a final decision re the back splash; but, once that's installed, I or Gordon will share photographs of the finished product.

In 30 years of working with contractors and design professionals, we have never had as good an experience as we did with Gordon. He really understands kitchens--what you will want and why, how they wear and perform, where to source things--so he is an excellent design advisor. His family produces high-craft cabinets made from good materials that will last, at an excellent price. The choices available for finishes and detailing fit every taste, and Gordon made many suggestions that really improved the outcome. We love and live in our kitchen! Gordon's installation was meticulous, with every detail as we wanted it from the first. He doesn't sub-contract the job to someone else or have less experienced workers carry out the work. He does it himself, personally, with great care. Gordon was also 100% on time and on budget with the entire project. He worked effectively with our maddeningly hard-to-pin-down general contractor, taking his schedule changes in stride without complaint, and applying pressure on our behalf.

I normally don’t write reviews, in fact, this is the first review I have ever written for anything. I’m a craftsman and prefer to do all my own house projects; however, when it came to our kitchen remodel, I knew with my family living in the house during the remodel, I wouldn’t have the time to complete the project in a timely manor. I was very particular with who I hired for my cabinets and installation. After countless hours of looking at all my options from ready-to-assemble, semi-custom, and custom cabinets, the option that fit our needs/wants the best was custom cabinets. I was impressed with the quality of product, craftsmanship, and value Oberholtzer Custom Cabinetry provided. I am very picky and have high expectations when I hire a contractor to work on my house, but Mark and Gordon were very easy to work with and accommodating throughout the entire process. We worked primarily with Gordon and he listened to our wants/needs and provided great design ideas to create a balance of form & function while maximizing the physical space. I am absolutely impressed with Gordon’s craftsmanship and attention to detail. Gordon exceeded all my expectations and I will definitely use Oberholtzer Custom Cabinetry again for future projects. I highly recommend their services to anyone in the market for high quality craftsmanship for a fair price.

It was a pleasure to work with Gordon at Oberholtzer Custom Cabinetry on our modern kitchen addition, completed in September, 2017. We found Gordon through word-of-mouth, as we had remarked upon the quality of their work at a friend’s house. From the initial consult through completion, he was very professional, and thorough in his communication and follow-up. Gordon feels a great sense of responsibility for his part of the project, hence the huge amount of attention paid to all design details large and small—even details we didn’t know existed. His work was finished on schedule and within budget. The quality is evident in both the esthetics (interior and exterior) and handling. We have several different types of drawers and built-in features and they are all awesome! The finish of the interior surfaces is also a thing of beauty. We wound up with our dream kitchen where the cabinetry is a real showpiece. The story, as to how all these puzzle pieces came together to form a modern minimalist exterior which houses a beautifully integrated and functional interior, is a good one. Integrity, great work ethic, highly recommend!

Gordon designed and installed our kitchen in our new home. He guided us through each step of the process with exceptional attention to detail and to our budget. Gordon was always accessible for our questions. The work and quality far exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Gordon and we will be contacting him for future renovations.

I cannot recommend Oberholtzer Custom Cabinetry enough. Gordon took great care and consideration for our project. He spent time with us to understand what we were looking for and suggesting options that he thought we would like but we didn't know how to ask for. For example, he made suggestions on custom details for the under edges of our cabinets that enhance the look, but we certainly wouldn't know to ask about. He combines his knowledge and experience of his craft with listening to his clients to deliver a fantastic finished project. The entire project did take a lot of time, but you can't rush quality. The entire project probably took ~3 months from start to finish (also over Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays -- so this may have caused some delay). This includes an in-home consultation, project planning, sample delivery for approval (i.e. cabinet door with wood and stain quality), delivery of product with in-home installation.

Gordon was extremely professional, and brought wisdom to the design task. He made many useful suggestions about elements to be included in the bathroom remodel. He identified one potential problem and facilitated its resolution. The cupboards were crafted with great care, and they work beautifully.

I've had two jobs completed by Oberholtzer- A custom built in cabinet/work surface for an office and a closet demo/extension with custom interior cabinets and exterior dresser. Both projects produced excellent results and the process was unusually enjoyable. Gordon is great for bouncing ideas off of, he's got tons of useful insight, obviously from loads of experience. I used to do a bit of custom furniture myself and I am not easy to impress. I recommend this company wholeheartedly.
