I have worked with Mr Milendorf for several years as his architect for the creation of 4 custom homes, 3 in Lexington, MA and 1 in Newton, MA. My firm does not often work in the speculative housing market, but we have made an exception with Milendorf Real Estate Development, LLC for 2 reasons. The main reason is Mr Milendorf respects the value an architect brings to the creation of a home, the other is that each of these structures was built using innovative off site building techniques which he has mastered. The vast majority of developer builders acquire their home designs as cheaply as possible and construct them with little to no thoughtful regard to orientation or context. Mr Milendorf understands and appreciates the importance of both to the value of the home and its neighborhood. He has a keen eye for not only the quality of the underlying structure but also for construction detailing and finishes. He allows me to create interior and exterior detail elements, draw them to the degree that they can be fabricated to our specifications and then executes the finished product very professionally. He often has me come to the construction site to work through a complex conditions or to discuss enhancements that he identifies as opportunities during construction. The resulting homes he creates are lovely with the quality of a truly custom home.
