EcoScapes Landscaping

In late 2005, I hired Michael Nelson (EcoScapes) to retrofit an old Casa Solana house (1959) with both a roof rain catchment irrigation system and also a gray water irrigation sourced by dirty dishwasher and shower (sink) water. The object was to keep our landscape vegetation alive and flourishing during the 4 or 5 months each year that we live in Colorado and we have no caretaker to tend to the trees and gardens. The project was complex from its inception, having to excavate and place two 2,500 gal cistern tanks for rain catchment in a very limited space in our front yard and having to install a 50 gal tank for gray water in a tightly contained space in the crawl space under our house. In addition to the two areas (front and back yard) watered by the gray water, Michael installed 3 irrigation zones in the front, back and side yards all connected to 1 easy to operate timer. The job took about 6 months which included the constant plan upgrades that my wife and straddled on Michael and which he cheerfully accepted. The job finished about 17 years ago is still operating efficiently with very little maintenance and up-dating of equipment.

Beware - design process was painfully slow, repetitive and uncreative. Very little understanding of the cost of materials/installation. Very little understanding of the plants suited to our SW ecosystem. Expressed our displeasure, and now no one will return our calls/emails.

Ecoscapes helped us redesign an old garden with new hardscaping and xeric and drought resistant plants. The experience was delightful: good communication, highly responsive to any concerns, changes or glitches that always occurs with big changes. Very proactive. Lovely and hardworking crew. Now, it’s hard to be outside without multiple neighbors/dog walkers stopping to complement our new garden. Highly recommend.

Ecoscapes created a beautiful wall and patio for our backyard. The wall was natural looking and strong. The work was done by hand by very skilled workers. I would definitely choose them for this work. You won’t be disappointed.

What a fantastic find. Michael and his hard-working team at Ecoscapes did a beautiful job landscaping our back patio. Starting with just dirt, weeds, and dead trees, they transformed our lifeless patio into a colorful, stunning sanctuary. Not only for us, but for the song birds too. They constructed and installed a red rock, water fountain that isn't just aestheically pleasing, but a lovely soundscape. Listening to the water, while drinking my cup of coffee is a dream come true. Kid you not, the birds drink and bathe in this water gem. We love walking barefoot around the patio on the flagstone they installed throughout the garden. Even more, the native plants they planted attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Michael's crew showed up on time, were relentless workers, provided great service, and a top-notch product. We can't thank you all enough.

We wanted a new patio and pergola ground. We decided on porphyry and then found EcoScapes. A team of 4 did the installation which took them about a month. They were very professional and conscientious. When my husband would notice something he wanted them to address, they would respond "We can do that" and followed up quickly. From start to finish the team kept the project tidy. A lot of dirt was removed and piled in our yard. They fixed that with an earth mover and gave us grass and flower seeds as a bonus. The owner Michael was very professional and easy to work with. The final product is beautiful and we heartily recommend EcoScapes.

Michael was great to work with and his people were conscientious, talented and eager to please. Fair price for what turned out to be a wonderful transformation to our yard.

We had an excellent experience with EcoScapes planning and implementing the landscape for our small walled and rather barren yard. As an in-town location, we had several micro-climates requiring careful plant choices and we wanted a large stone patio. The resulting design gave us a great entertaining space, raised beds for ornamentals and a kitchen garden, improved privacy and an interesting variety of plants. Michael and his team were a joy to work with throughout the process - the stone masons were true artists and the project ticked off everything on our wish list. EcoScapes has stayed engaged, offering maintenance advise when asked and replacing two plants that failed to thrive.
