House Tune Up

Maciej and House Tune Up have been beyond disappointing! The windows he sells leak, we cant finish our home build, and he has completely abandoned us after we spent hundreds of thousands of dollars with him. The Dako windows are defective from the factory. Maciej and House Tune Up wont help on our behalf. Maciej is content to take our money and walk away! He wont answer calls, texts, asks us to email him only but he wont respond to emails. The manufacturer has come to see the windows, sent aluminum manufacturer to view the leaks, and Maciej was no where in site- his email sent a vacation response! Buyer beware- if there s an issue, House Tune Up hides, is no where to be found and doesnt advocate on the customers behalf. He is a dealer of the windows, which are manufactured by Dako- his family. He will favor the manufacturer over his customer, even when the manufacturer is in the wrong.

The absolute worst experience ever from any company during the construction of a new house. Started with complete denial by House tune up that the $200,000 plus worth of windows and doors leaked to now that it is confirmed that almost every window leaks and both the dealer , house tune up , maciej falger and Dako windows are non existant in determining the issue and coming up with a solution. Avoid at all costs .

The estimate was accurate; there were no extra charges or surprises. The window was delivered and installed on time. The work was done properly, they kept the job site clean, and no additional damage was done to the house. They were courteous and friendly. We will be using House Tune Up again to get more windows and doors installed.

House Tune Up replaced an exterior French door with a sliding glass door. From the time we met him at the home show he was professional, prompt and did a fabulous job. We hired House Tune Up to completely gut and renovate our outdated '60s bathroom. Given that we recently became homeowners, we were overwhelmed with the design and renovation process. However, Maciej took the time to sit down with us and discuss different design/layout options based on our needs. Upon gaining a better understanding from our discussions, he was able to narrow down the design/layout that catered to our needs and provided the best value for our money. Maciej arrived on time every day and ensured that the bathroom and surrounding areas were cleaned before he left for the day. During the renovation process, Maciej was very accommodating and patient when we made last-minute decisions. Given that our home was older, we did run into several hiccups. As Maciej identified these issues, he made sure to bring them to our attention on a timely basis and adjusted the budget accordingly in order to resolve them. Nevertheless, these interruptions had a minimal impact on our renovation timeline, and Maciej was still able to deliver a beautifully renovated bathroom! Overall, we were very pleased with House Tune Up's great service, attention to detail and ability to stay within the projected budget and timeline. Maciej impressed us during the screening process with his knowledge of our particular challenges as well as his association with the Renomark organization. This opinion was only solidified when we called his references. All were positive but were worried that he would become too popular and not be available for their future projects. Maciej has completed our master bathroom and is now working on the hall bathroom. He only works on our home until the project is complete, he shows up on time every day and keeps in regular contact with updates to the projects. Additionally he has offered input to our designs which has helped us avoid potential errors that we would not have foreseen. We hired Maciej to do a complete renovation of our unfinished basement including a kitchenette and 3 piece bath. To be honest this was our first renovation experience and we were a bit nervous. My first foray into the world of renovation involved a very old, very dated and worn out bathroom. I had never worked with a contractor before, had no real idea how to find one and no concept of what to expect. I found some very positive reveiws on Maciej Falgar, owner of House Tune Up and sent an email with the details of the job to him and three other contractors. He contacted me on the same day that the email had been sent. We arranged an appointment and it probably took me less than 10 minutes to decide that I was going to hire him to do the job. He was extremely professional during his initial visit, patiently answering my questions and dealing with my concerns. That patience continued during the entire renovation project; when I told him I was overwhelmed with the thousands of tile selections facing me, he met me at the tile store and helped me through the process. When I told him I was having trouble locating a vanity, he met me, during a raging snowstorm, at a store in Burlington to help with the selection. When it was discovered that the vanity set would not fit in my car, he picked it up on the way. As with many renovations, there were hidden "surprises" behind the walls; he always had alternatives to the problems presented - he never considered them a problem - there was always a solution. And the solutions were always presented with my budget in mind. You would never know a renovation was going on in my house - the clean up at the end of every day was impressive - put my housekeeping skills to shame. The end result was more than I had expected - my bathroom is now the nicest room in my house, all thanks to Maciej. The job was done when he said it would be and right on budget. He went above and beyond what was expected. My next project is the kitchen; House Tune Up is already on notice that they will be back and tearing things apart again. I have no hesitation in recommending them for a renovation project!

I hired HOUSE TUNE-UP to do more than just a tune-up! My basement was flooded after the flash-flood in Mississauga in July 2013 and needed total demolition and reconstruction. Maciej certainly did the job well. He was punctual and completed the work in the estimated time frame. His original estimate was accurate and on-target in all aspects. There were no hidden surprises. Maciej was not only well-informed about by-laws and regulations but also resourceful and creative. He demonstrated an excellent knowledge of the latest products available on the Canadian home improvement market. He made many invaluable suggestions for changes to make my basement more flood-proof--very important in my case! Maciej listened and responded to all my concerns and tried to fulfill my wishes as much as possible. He takes pride in his work and it shows! Maciej and crew did a complete gut job and rebuild on our tiny bathroom in a 100-year old house in downtown Toronto. I found them to be punctual, thorough, professional and completely honest.
