About Us

Mary Catherine McCarthy is an award-winning interior designer with over 25 years of experience, and is the founder of Mary Catherine McCarthy, LLC. Her designs have been featured in Design New Jersey, Gloria Nilson Magazine, The Steinway Owners Magazine, The Coast Star and The Ocean Star. Mary Catherine McCarthy, LLC is a full-service interior design firm based in Monmouth County, New Jersey providing commercial and residential services including floor plans, furniture and accessories, custom window treatments, and green design concepts. The firm also provides expert home staging and model home design services to custom home builders, including Toll Brothers. Mary Catherine draws inspiration from her previous experience designing showrooms, displays and windows for retail brands and department stores in New York and Italy. Prior to founding Mary Catherine McCarthy, LLC in 1990, Mary Catherine was a creative director for E.T. Cranston, formerly part of Almax International, a leading provider of showrooms, fixtures and mannequins for luxury fashion brands. She also previously worked as the Head of Visual Marketing for Ormond Shops’ chain of over 200 stores. Mary Catherine is actively involved in her local community at the Jersey shore. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of The Guild of Ocean Medical Center, a non-profit which funds health care related services at the Hackensack Meridian Health Ocean Medical Hospital and throughout the community. She also previously served on the board of Epiphany House, a shelter for women and children located in Asbury Park. She also served on the Wall Township Board of Education from 2013-2014. Mary Catherine holds a bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College.

There is no one who could be more highly recommended not only for her design ability but also for her integrity. Her ability to listen and communicate are unique. She is a knowledgeable professional with a deep sense of caring and concern. Would I use her services in the future? ABSOLUTELY.

Mary Catherine not only transformed my parent's home, but she was also the event planner for my wedding. Not only does she have an incredible eye for design and decor, but her experience with event planning and personality made the process so much easier. She sensed what was important to me and what I didn't care about. I wanted draping from the ceiling and didn't know how to make that happen. With Mary Catherine I didn't have to worry about how it was going to happen - she took care of it. Day of she noticed when the florists started assembling the arch wrong and once again - took care of it again. It was great to have someone I knew and trusted, who was outside the family, there to support me and make sure my wedding day went off without a hitch.

When we renovated our kitchen and the rest of the first floor, Mary Catherine provided design services, hired all the contractors, sourced all the furniture and appliances, and supervised every detail from demo day until completion. Everything ended up exactly as we wanted it. The transformation was incredible. Mary Catherine made it easy for us, and we plan to use her again for our next project.

Having seen Mary Catherine McCarthy's work close up when she performed an amazing transformation of my brother's house, I asked for a consultation for a small condo I am thinking of buying. She met with me promptly and submitted the resulting paperwork quickly. Her ideas for maximizing the space and creating storage were very creative and just what I needed to hear before moving forward. Mary Catherine was recommended to me by someone from my new community. My home in fact is featured on MCM2 Design's website titled "Traditional". I was moving into new construction and needless to say, I was in a mad frenzy to be settled in my new home. MCM2 Design from the beginning was patient, extremely professional but more importantly, she listened. She offered me the opportunity to finally leave my comfort zone and try new colors and furniture. When people walk into my home, they say it looks like a model home. She worked with me on every room in the house and I can't praise her and her team enough. From window treatments, to area rugs to furniture and accessories, to hanging my artwork, she did it all and she was with me every step of the way until it was completed. A favorite improvement design of ours was the transformation of our master suite. You created tray ceiling lighting and custom features such as a beautiful pallet of color featuring an original piece artfully crafted by a staff member, an upholstered headboard and matching bench, window treatments that showcase the waterfront, and new traditional furniture inspired by our antique mirror. After working with MCM2 on a home buyers seminar, I recommended MCM2 to a new home builder to design his condominium sales model. The builder loved the work so much, he asked her to design another unit. I would recommend them again-they are professional, creative and honest.

MCM2 Design did a staging on two of my condo units at The Emporium at the Beach Condominiums, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. The models came out absolutely beautiful. Mary Catherine was a delight to work with. She was very professional, her service was excellent and the pricing was fair. I would highly recommend MCM2 Design!

I have been associated with Mary Catherine and her exceptional team on three homes. I have always found her to be an excellent designer who is professional, knowledgeable, and very creative. She has the ability to envision the entire project and then follow through all the details to completion. Her effervescent personality enables her to be easy to work with and to make the entire experience very enjoyable.
