We built it; I loved it! We bought our property 30 years ago at the time I had always loved modern architecture and my homes I built were that. At that time I decided to make this home a statement on Tucson Heritage. I admired George Washington Smith’s work and his Spanish Colonial Revival homes from the 20’s in Santa Barbara , this went well with Jonias Joeshler’s work in Tucson. 17 years ago Jim retired and wanted to add on to our home. We chose Michael Franks 13 yrs ago as our architect he is multi talented and a nicer guy you would never hope to meet, he has integrity and claim to some of tucson’s most handsome architecture. For this project, Jim wanted a 2nd Master Bedroom and a Study designated for himself. Michael’s solution was inspired. We now have Master Bedrooms either side of the bath and dressing room. Before Michael was finished, on top of Jim’s master bedroom and study Michael was to touch every side of this house..the front courtyard was defined, driveway split to the front and back entries, the garage added a third bay, a work room for Norma for computer and treadmill with its own bath and my bedroom closet was to double! As I am designer myself I really care and Michel is a positive talented person to work with. Michael's solution for Jim's Master Bedroom I really love. Jim has a view down the vine covered veranda and in the distance the original gazebo appears. In Tucson one must have a swimming pool and spa said Michael as I do not swim, I call it the viewing pool reminiscent of Louis Kahn’s Viewing Pool at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. Michael designed the landscape for the south patio the enormous planter box. The stepping typography culminates in his piece de resistance the elegant negative edge pool. In this case it is beautiful to look down at Tucson’s city lights!

We had a wonderful experience working with Mike Franks [La Quinta] remodeling a Tucson, territorial, adobe brick home. He and his team reconfigured the entire interior, opening-up space and modernizing the infrastructure. We appreciated the design inputs and recomendations. His team of craftsmen were excellent. Everything was done to perfection. All costs were well anticipated and explained, and we couldn't be more happy with the outcome. Ours was not a large project, but were were treated like important customers throughout the process. We highly recommend La Quinta Building Company.

I worked with Mike & Debbie Franks to remodel a 2,271 sq ft home built in 1992. The brief was to enhance the views of the Catalina Mountains & create a contemporary light filled living space. Every design choice enabled that to be achieved. New energy efficient windows & doors, state of the art kitchen, master & guest bathrooms. French oak flooring throughout, retextured walls, added baseboards. Custom cabinetry in kitchen, bathrooms, new study, Arizona Room custom bookcases & limestone walled gas fireplace. Mike & Debbie were always readily available to me for discussion & ideas, allowing enhancements to be made during the renovation process. They provided recommendations & suggestions to achieve my design choices. The project was completed in nine months.

We've worked with La Quinta Building Company on various projects for over 5 years and are currently beginning a master bath remodel. Mike Franks is responsive, creative, and always a joy to work with. All of our projects (including a large kitchen remodel) have come in on time and within budget. We would never consider working with anyone else. Recently we've been connecting online due to the CV-19 virus and have found that process to be productive and efficient. I wish I could give them six stars.

As my husband and I sat out in our backyard on a beautiful summer evening, we once again recalled all the time, effort and execution it took to make our significant remodel project, both inside and outside our home, come true. It started with a dream and became a reality when we hired La Quinta Building Company to be our company of choice to undertake this rather complex addition. The final outcome is absolutely beautiful, functional and immensely enjoyable. La Quinta was very professional, prompt, and resourceful and listened to all of our ideas, changes and suggestions, We would hire them again without hesitation. We did a new house construction project with Mike and his team in Tucson. The project was a great success and finished right on schedule. All the subcontractors were professional and responsive and we got the exact results we wanted. Mike did a great job working with the HOA, architectural review and other oversight groups.
