I can't say enough good things about working with Julia. We reached out to her to help us renovate the kitchen and bathroom in our Brooklyn condo, and start to finish, the process with Julia was easy, streamlined and fun. Julia's excellent taste helped us move through the design process quickly, and we are so thrilled with the finished space. I hired Julia Mack to give my apartment a more polished look, and I am so happy that I did! She got me "unstuck" and effortlessly created a plan for me to move furniture and artwork so that it functions better. Everything looks so much more elegant than it ever did before. Ms. Mack acted as our Interior Designer providing guidance as we planned our move into a renovated Brooklyn condo. The interior was a wash of white – very sterile. We engaged with Julia in late 2022 to assist us in creating a warm, cozy, sophisticated backdrop for conversation and relaxation in our home. Julia Mack is a world class designer. I had just moved into completely empty apartment with a few large pieces of furniture and no idea of what to do with it. She helped me work with the furniture that I had and worked to pick out all the furniture that I had to buy. She immediately identified my eclectic tastes and created a functional, funky, mid-century modern based, contemporary eclectic apartment. She was an absolute pleasure to work with — I would recommend her for any sort of project big or small.

We worked with Julia on the renovation and decoration of a new home, and loved our experience with her. Julia made our home more beautiful than we imagined it could be. She is a patient, kind person, and very easy to work with. She has excellent taste, great ideas on where to source things and solve problems, knows service people to handle every issue, and very understanding when you feel stressed or overwhelmed by the whole process. Julia suggested things we'd never have thought of, like adding a pocket door between two smaller rooms to create a master bedroom suite, or installing a custom banquette in our dining area to maximize the space as well as look appealing while withstanding the rough attentions of our young children. We were looking for a design firm to help us integrate our existing furniture into our new townhouse in Brooklyn. We moved from Charlotte, NC so had large, more traditional looking pieces. We contacted a number of design firms and decided to go with Julia after a phone consultation with her. We were already impressed by the projects she had worked on and her design aesthetic. Right from the start, Julia was able to help us repurpose a number of our existing pieces into different areas/rooms of the house. She really helped to invigorate some of the more traditional furniture by mixing in more modern, colorful and sculptural pieces. Our house looks better than it would have without Julia's help and input. She gently suggests new colors and new ways of looking at living spaces in the house. We also really appreciate trying out new colors and designs (hello, wallpaper!). Designing a new house and making it work for your lifestyle is a work in progress and Julia has really helped make our house more of a home. She's also great to work with and has been very helpful in making our transition to Brooklyn life easier. We highly recommend Julia and will work with her on new projects.

Julia's portfolio shows her great aesthetic and design skills. As her clients attest, she is great to work with too. My favorite part of working with Julia was her collaborative spirit and her targeted recommendations and advice based on what I needed for function and wanted in terms of overall feel. Julia was amazing! She helped us move from our brownstone to a 2 bedroom apartment and made what could have been a logistical nightmare into a smooth and easy process. Julia is topnotch. She is a true professional, who is very keen on getting the spatial configurations right before she proceeds. She is very knowledgeable about sources of furnishings, etc., and has always been very respectful of our preferences and budget. I very much like that she has more than one option to offer, rather than "this is the one and only solution." Julia is very responsive, and makes herself readily available through text, email, phone and personal meetings. Within a week after our initial contact, we had our first meeting. We had just completed a gut renovation of the living room/dining space of our prewar coop. We had recently ended our relationship with our first designer precisely because she could not understand the new space and the scale and layout of the newly created space. Julia "got" the space right away, and had ideas about rug placement, art, and furniture scale and placement immediately. Once our renovated space was attended to, Julia focused on our bedroom, helping us with layout, furniture selection, and wall colors She sketches as she goes. She can see what we could not. She gets overviews and imagines what belongs ("I can see a dining table that kind of needs to float, with a glass top and interesting base") and is familiar with many sources through her extensive research and past projects. We feel most fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Julia. She works collaboratively, and can extend out from her original concepts to accommodate new ideas. Julia recently led a remodeling of our master bedroom and a small office--and the results are spectacular! The bedroom is beautiful--she perfectly captured the peaceful mood I wanted. She has great taste, she really listens to what you want, and is good at incorporating into her designs the the furniture/accessories that you already have. She brought in an excellent contractor, who finished the work on time and on budget. On top of that, she is very professional and a pleasure to work with. I felt like I won the lottery after my first conversation with Julia. She is kind, smart, a good listener, pragmatic, and has a great eye. I have many strengths, but making interior design decisions is not one of them. I find it overwhelming to develop a cohesive look, and it takes me forever to make decisions about each individual item once I have a vision for a room. After spending several days (or maybe it was weeks!) looking for a kitchen table, I knew it was time to call an expert. Julia and I only met for a one-hour consultation, but I was amazed by how much we were able to complete in that time period. I left having a very clear idea of the look for the kitchen and several ideas for the other rooms in our new home. Julia helped me create a practical (but stylish) kitchen that works for our family of four. We also developed a shopping list of items to buy to complete the kitchen. I wholeheartedly recommend Julia and will be hiring her again once we decide to re-do our living room. I honestly cannot imagine taking on such a big project without her guidance.

Julia is a godsend in helping you get started, she doesn't overwhelm with too many ideas, or get overly ambitious but at the same time helps you realize it's time to get going, be decisive and make some welcome changes to your home environment. Her eye is superb - she sees colors, shapes, layouts, etc that would never remotely occur to us, but then they just work. Most recently, Julia worked with us on the retiling, repainting and new fixtures for our kitchen and two of our bathrooms. Her attention to detail and her ability to keep the suppliers focused on what would really work for us were just superb. For instance, We wound up with a beautiful wall of earthy green and grey glass and porcelain mosaic tile in our shower that perfectly blended with existing walls and fixtures, but added a tremendous calm, richness and feeling of luxury to the entire room. We loved her simple yet elegant choice for the kitchen splash and her care to detail regarding grout as well as overhead fixtures down to the tiniest difference in the fixture colors and of the bulbs that we would never have thought of but made a huge difference. The powder room walls were also of a color we would never have thought of but which has turned the room into a warm, modern type of jewel box. Julia in short draws just the right balance between encouraging you to make a fresh new choice but without pushing you to something you are not ready for. She made sure that the contractor knew exactly what was to be done, and suggested really good sources for accessory details that we could go shop for on our own if we wanted to (though we would rather have her there by our side as much as possible!). She is punctual and straightforward at all times. We are looking forward to our next project with Julia a little later on this year.

I live in an old Victorian house with collections of paintings, sculpture, glass, antiques and the many things I have collected over years of travels. Julia is fabulous! We worked together in 2014/15 in renovating my retail store, within a very difficult space in a historic brownstone building. I had a very good idea of the style and story I wanted to tell in the shop, and Julia was very keen on listening, was patient, and respectful of ideas that I had proposed. She was also always mindful of adhering to budget restraints. She helped transform the space with great lighting ideas, color ("November Skies" ) and luxurious details ( brass beaded curtains as room divider) that I described, but could not have made work without her. So pleased with the feeling she created within the shop......warm, luxurious, intimate, and unique.
