518 installed new windows and doors for us. Their recommendations and execution were excellent. We felt an immediate change in how warm and cozy the condo feels in winter. The windows and doors are beautiful and we are delighted with the built-in blinds. They work perfectly and easily.
The team at 518 are very professional and so easy to work with. We are going to renovate our kitchen with them as well!

Five One Eight Contracting completed the labor for a full bathroom remodel. I had not planned the timing of the remodel project. However, a failed tub drain that would have required some demolition to repair convinced me to move forward with complete demolition and remodel of the bath. Five One Eight was great to work with. The owner provided me with a detailed and reasonably priced estimate. The owner and work team were sensitive to my need to have the bathroom's basic facilities back in service quickly. Five One Eight built for me a spectacular large format porcelain tile Euro style shower as part of my beautiful new bathroom. Based on customer service focus, fairness & flexibility in handling unexpected situations, fair pricing, and excellent overall work quality, I would recommend Five One Eight Contracting LLC.

We are very happy with our total condo renovation. Matt was easy to work with and offered great suggestions on renovating a property that had not been updated for 20+ years. Matt was always reachable and very approachable, answering the many questions, providing advice on a range of topics that come up during a renovation. We were living 45 minutes away during the progress of the project. Matt kept us updated on the by phone calls and texts with photos at every stage of change. Five One Eight provides excellent customer service, quality products and workmanship. We highly recommend Matt and his team, particularly his project manager Chris.

This is our second project with Five One Eight, and Matt, Chrys and the team did another fantastic job! We now have a beautiful, functional kitchen that is better than we'd imagined. We presented our ideas and Matt provided helpful suggestions that worked within our budget.
The project morphed as it progressed (to include a new railing, new stair treads and refinishing an entire level of hardwood floors) and they were very flexible and supportive of our changes. They are always polite and professional and shared our enthusiasm over the transformation. We will definitely call them again; we highly recommend you use them for your next project!

Five One Eight Contracting delivered on everything we had hoped for with our exterior home renovation. Matt, the owner, is a professional who truly cares about doing high quality work, in a timely fashion, with excellent communication. From the conscientious care removing the stucco off our house, cleaning up everyday as they worked, to the stacked stone and Hardie siding installation; the job was handled so well. Matt stays in communication before, during, and after every aspect of the job, ensuring we were always in the know. Our house looks brand new, our bluestone walkways are perfect and our stone patio is exactly what we hoped for. I can not recommend a better contractor than Five One Eight Contracting!!

Our experience with FiveOneEight contracting has been excellent.
We had a pipe burst on the second floor that leaked into the master closet as well as the ceiling below. I called them and received a call back from Matt (owner) that same day. The repair to the both the closet and the ceiling were flawless. Matt, Chris and the crew have been wonderful to work with. We have been so satisfied that we are also having them do a complete master bath remodel. Would highly recommend FiveOneEight Contracting.

Matt & his team used an incredible attention to detail when preparing the bid for our project. It's hard to find contractors who are great communicators and Matt always was! We also liked the creative ideas he was able to suggest that we hadn't thought of.

We chose Five One Eight for a complex remodel of our kitchen and first floor and are delighted with the results. Things we valued: detailed estimates, product knowledge, design ideas, creative problem-solving, and strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors. Matt and his team were easy to work with. They were unfazed by supply chain challenges, COVID limits, and other surprises that happen with any construction work. This is a well-run business with high standards and well-thought-out systems for overseeing and doing the work.

Matt and his guys did an INCREDIBLE job redoing our deck and adding a raised addition. They were professional (punctual, kind, and attentive) from start to finish. Matt thought through details we wouldn't have even considered, such as which way the pergola's rafters should be facing for optimal shading. We will definitely hire them again for any work.

I don’t know where to begin regarding my experience with Five One Eight Contracting.
Matt Solel is THE BEST. He is competent, honest, kind, creative and fun to work with. Additionally his crew is second to none. No task is too big or too small for Matt and every job is a priority. My job was a small appartment. Although this job was small in size, it was big in scope. We completely re-did this appartment - new windows, plumbing fixtures, floors, kitchen, ceilings and we re-designed the physical space extensively. Did I mention I live in California and this project was in Baltimore? And we were in the middle of the pandemic during most of it. I could not have done this without Matt’s support and conscientious character. If you choose Five One Eight, you will be satisfied.

Matt and team were great to work with. After interviewing three different companies they were the most punctual, best listeners, greatest value. The first two pictures are before pictures of what the bedroom and master bathroom looked like when we bought the house in August of 2020. The first project my wife wanted to address was this bathroom so it was important that whoever we hired was willing to create our “forever suite”. Matt worked with us every step of the way making sure to share with us what he could do to make our dreams a reality. What was equally important was that since we have a toddler that whoever we hired kept a clean and safe construction site and Matt along with Elvis came up aces. As an attention to detail person I greatly appreciated the fact that Matt was not satisfied with anything less than perfect. The only thing that could have made it easier was if we were able to get a CAD drawing of the design so it was easier to visualize as we were going along. That certainly won’t prevent me from hiring Matt and team again as this was just the first of many projects in our forever home.

Matt Solel and Five One Eight undertook a project for me just before Christmas on very short notice. The project involved multiple components for updating a large condominium: floor refinishing, painting, countertops, installation of appliances, lighting, installation of floor tile, etc. Most of the work was completed within two months. Every workman sent to my home took obvious pride in his work, and was on time, polite, and careful. Matt has been very responsive and able to make many moving parts work together, and didn't hesitate to suggest other sources for some work that he thought could be done at less cost by others. His overall price was very reasonable. I would use Five One Eight Again in a heartbeat.

We hired Five One Eight to help us do some work on a rental property that we wanted to put on the market for sale. The tenants left the place in pretty bad shape, but Matt came in and gave us suggestions on the best value for our money and made us feel much better about being able to get the property in good shape for sale. While we did not do any updating of kitchens or bathrooms, we did have them redo all of the flooring, painted everything, painted and refreshed the kitchen cabinetry, repaired and stained the deck, power washed and painted the exterior, replaced exterior shutters, repaired the porch/steps/railings, installed new light fixtures, changed out all electrical outlets/switches, replaced all the doorknobs, fixed the hardware in the closets, replaced all smoke detectors, and did a deep clean on the entire unit. After seeing the "before" condition, I wasn't expecting that much, but WOW did they do a great job! It felt like walking in a whole new house even without doing a major renovation! We were thrilled with the quality of work Matt and his team did for us. Before we started repairs, we were worried we weren't going to be able to sell the house, but after the work was done, we listed the house and had an offer over asking price on the first day! Throughout the process, Matt was so polite and very responsive and answered all of our questions. I would highly recommend Five One Eight Contracting and we look forward to working with them again in the future.

I really liked working with this contractor. He explained everything in great detail, and he was more than happy to address concerns and questions I had. This was a bathroom remodel, and we had picked out our own tile for the floor, and shower area, and he figured out the best countertop to match them, and he helped me pick the very best paint color. He also replaced the shower doors from older sliding ones to walk in glass doors and gave us good ideas for shelves and wash cloth holders. It all looks so nice and we are so pleased with his work.

They do great work, Matt and his team built several additions to our home and the quality is always incredible plus he has a way of adding a little touch that makes the project really pop. For example, we built a barn door style closet in the master, and Matt added a motion sensor light that automatically clicks on when you open the doors. It's little things like that most people don't think about that make his projects really incredible. We are currently drawing up a plans for the bathroom and he has already come up with some really incredible ideas. Highly recommended.

When my husband and I purchased our house we knew we wanted to make some changes that would require an architect and a contractor, but after our first meeting with Matt Solel, we knew we wouldn't be needing an architect! Matt made excellent structural and design suggestions to enhance our original ideas and was very helpful in selecting materials and colors. He has superb attention to detail and never cuts corners, while also respecting our budget. He and all the workers he uses are punctual, polite and professional, and the building site is clean at the end of each work day. Matt gives his complete attention to the job, and if he isn't on the site some days he is in close communication with those who are working there. Most importantly, he stands by his work and doesn't consider the job finished unless his clients are 100% satisfied. We are more than satisfied and will always turn to Matt for any home project. We consider him not only a highly skilled contractor, but now a trusted friend.

I was very happy with my townhome renovation, on a property badly in need of improvements and updates. We were living out of town during our renovation, and Matt was very professional and kept me informed of progress by emails and pictures. He explained the whys and why nots of various details that I wanted included in a manner that I could understand. He obtained consultation on important infrastructure issues such as plumbing and HVAC with de-humidification, and the results are excellent. He was always available for questions, and he took care of any issues that arose in my absence. He was knowledgeable about which appliances would work in my small space, and he has an excellent design sense. What he recommended worked very well for me. In summary, Matt and I worked well together and I highly recommend him.

Matt and his crew were a delight to work with, from the planning through the end of construction for our condo renovation. Matt worked closely with us on the design, making excellent suggestions that inevitably had an incredible impact on the final product. The unexpected sale of the rental we were living in meant that we had to move in earlier than expected but Matt, Adam and Co. handled it all without batting an eye. Hiring a trustworthy and reliable contractor can be a nightmare. But I cannot say enough good things about Matt and his crew. I'm selling my house, so deadlines were a huge factor. He called/showed up on time for all appointments -- he even went out of his way to get back to the house when I asked him for a last minute update on the project estimate. I am so pleased with my new bathroom! Matt and his crew could not have been more helpful during the time they spent at my house. He intuited what was needed in both the beautiful design and function and followed through in a timely and professional manner. The result was a large modern space with a shower that worked perfectly for my husband's needs, a sink area with lots of elbow room, and plenty of storage all designed with materials and colors that blended seamlessly with the adjoining room. Matt Solel and his team did a fantastic job on my kitchen back splash tiling, along with some other projects I inquired about. They were always on time, professional, courteous and did a great job of cleaning up everyday before they left. They are perfectionists and actually removed a few tiles when something did not turn out how they liked it! Funny thing - I was OK with it but they were not. I would certainly recommend Matt and his team!

I was selling my house. The inspection found many problems:plumbing errors my previous contractor made and refused to fix, odds and ends needing to be fixed both inside and outside. The blue stone patio/sidewalk, etc. There were 28 things all together . He got his plumber, electrician, handyman and himself to fix them all. The sale of the home went through. He was pleasant, there when he said he’d be, and fixed All that was asked of him with a smile. I would refer him to anyone needing help.

My husband and I were extremely pleased with the workmanship and communication from Five One Eight Contracting, LLC. The estimates are thorough and itemized letting the customer know exactly what is included. The workers show up on time and construction areas are left clean every night. Extra time was taken to make sure surrounding carpet and furniture was not damaged. Our new master bathroom is truly a showpiece.

Matt Solel and his FiveOneEight Contracting, LLC did a top-notch, first class, professional job on a number of exterior projects that we needed done on our home. Among those projects were an external home painting, new gutters and downspouts, multiple chimney inspections, full roof and house cleaning, new garage doors, and re-enforcing a brick retaining wall. Each of the projects was completed on time and on budget with over-communication occurring at every step. The work was excellently performed and completely met our expectation. Matt's leadership of the work was outstanding as he was personally involved and engaged from start to finish. Matt and his team did a great job! Matt was prompt, professional, and honest. He gave us a range of options on a few different jobs and provided his opinion on what would be the best choice. Surprisingly, it wasn't always the most immediate or expensive option. The final product was just as he described and just as we expected. The quality of work was excellent. We'd definitely recommend Matt and his team and we'll be sure to use them again.

Our recent experience in resolving the issues raised by the home inspector for selling our house were daunting to me. Matthew Solel of FiveOneEight was the perfect answer for me. He understood the problems and came up with the solutions and ultimately with a more economical solution to one particular problem. He even needed to consult another expert which I was not even aware he had done until afterward. He fit me into the schedule at my convenience and was all around a real professional. I am grateful to have had him do our work and very pleased with the results as well as the reassuring process.

I hired Matt and FiveOneEight at the suggestion of our realtor to assist with getting the house ready for sale. The biggest project was rebuilding the previously refinished portion of our basement, which my sons had more or less destroyed. Most of the other items on our punch list were relatively minor: the sort of niggling things that most homeowners just live with (faulty doorknobs, cracked tiles, etc.). Matt was extremely responsive from the get-go, responding to my initial inquiry right away and setting up a time for an estimate within 24 hours. This is, in my experience, extremely rare, particularly for smaller (sub 10,000 dollar) projects.
His responsiveness and attention to detail continued throughout the job. Every night, he emailed with an estimated time of arrival for the following day, and always let me know which jobs they planned to tackle so that I could plan ahead. With a family and dog, it is extremely helpful to know who will be where when, which many contractors do not seem to grasp fully.
Matt's experience showed in his creative and cost-saving solutions to several of our problems. For example, to ensure a perfect match for missing tile in our 1950s bathroom, he used a few that he removed from under the toilet.
With regard to pricing, I may have been able to find a cheaper contractor if I'd been willing to wait or go with an unlicensed contractor. However, Matt's pricing was definitely fair/ballpark, and it is hard to put a price tag on trust, reliability, and efficiency. I was happy to pay the amount charged, and would happily hire FiveOneEight again.

Five One Eight's professionalism and attention to detail with our kitchen renovation impressed us from the start. Matt, the owner, wanted to be present for all decisions which allowed us to utilize his team's expertise on design, material quality, recommendations, etc. He exceeded our expectations with project timing, offering options to stay within budget, and most importantly the quality of the work, and outcome of the kitchen. The daily updates helped us stay in the know from start to finish. I have already recommended the Five One Eight team for another project!.

My wife and I bought a home last month and wanted to redo the kitchen. Five One Eight Contracting did amazing work, were in constant communication with us throughout the process and were very hands-on while we decided what type cabinets/counter tops/appliances we wanted. Their eye for design is equally matched by their craftsmanship skills. Now the work is complete we couldn't be happier.

Adam is the contractor who fixed my front door frame that was damaged by the SentriLock. He showed up on time (7:30am), evaluated the extent of the damage, made a call to Matt to confirm how best to repair it. Adam drove to Home Depot to pick up a new plastic strip, replaced the broken wood, added fresh caulking and weather strip. Plus, he fixed the front door latch. The seller is paying for this repair; I assume it costs less than $1,000. Adam was knowledgeable and spent just over an hour on the repairs. He was polite and friendly.
The only reason this is 4 stars instead of 5 - I was told Matt would call or text me about a day/time to come out and make the repair. I had to call him. Then I confirmed he would call me on Tuesday when he had a better idea of his schedule for the upcoming week. I had to call him on Wednesday to set up a day/time.

This company was great! They helped me with every single job I needed when my house was inspected. It was like a weight had been lifted to be able to do everything with only one company. They did so in a timely, professional manner, and were looking out for me when it came to cost of items. They fixed plumbing, electrical, and more! I would recommend to anyone!

Matt was very detail-oriented, submitting a proposal outlining what needed to be done and how it would be accomplished. He was very familiar with the project's requirements and obtained quality materials. He insisted on neatness, accuracy and respect for our property and schedules from his employees. Good suggestions from him on the choice of materials and procedures assisted us in decision-making. He coordinated well the work of other contractors such as plumber and electrician with that of his carpenter. We are very pleased with the finished project!

I have had the pleasure of working with Matt Solel, owner of fiveoneeightcontracting. My company supplies Matt with floorcovering products for his customers. As you can see, my work is the last piece of the puzzle for Matt. Matt always seams to stay on track when completing his work. I needed a total kitchen remodel and what a great experience! The work was completed on time and with great attention to detail. Everything was installed right and if I had any questions or concerns they were addressed promptly. I was so pleased with the job that I had them do other work around my house and it was all done right and in the time promised. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing contracting work done on their home. Really can't find anyone better!

Five One Eight Contracting was awesome to work with! Everything was already planned out a month in advance, the project was on schedule, well organized, and executed smoothly. Five One Eight Contracting took the stress and worry of managing the project out of the equation. This is the best experience I have had with home renovation, and I have worked with SEVERAL other companies and individual contractors in the past. I highly recommend Five One Eight Contracting to everyone (including my close friends and family) and have full confidence that they will do incredible work for each and every client.
