McDowell Fine Homes

McDowell built a home for my elderly parents. The home, which cost over $1Million to build is subpar. We have had to spend thousands to fix plumbing, electrical, solar panel issues on a house that is 4 years old. McDowell tried to over charge for work and was passive-aggressive when work quality was questioned. To give you an example of the interaction with the McDowell team, during the build process, the electrician placed a strip of plugs directly under the lip of the kitchen sink?! Who puts electrical plugs under the lip of a sink? When I asked the electrician about it, his response was, "it is code".Really? Give me a break. I asked them to remove it and was ignored. The bathroom electrical work was shoddy and had to be fixed. In the guest bathroom, the shower drains were not installed properly so a towel and a sponge have to placed where the shower door opening is in order to stop leaking during a shower. This can't even be fixed without ripping out and replacing the floor drains and the bathroom floor. The alarm company was some random guy who was also either the plumber or other contractor. When I called the 'alarm company' to get more information on the system, I called the "emergency number" and the response on the other end of the phone was "Yeah?" The alarm system had to be changed out. The front gate door literally fell apart and had to be replaced after 4 years, costing more money. The list goes on...

Doug and the team at McDowell Fine Homes are fantastic builders. Doug took on the renovation of a mostly abandoned adobe and reimagined it for our time: Opening up rooms, lifting the ceiling, enlarging the windows and modernizing all the systems while maintaining the inherent Santa Fe style. Everyone remarks on the singular beauty of the hand-crafted plaster walls. Doug is a student of Santa Fe design and architecture and is thoughtful about the unique approach for any of the home designs, I enjoyed learning more through the process. Doug and team were great to work with, always open to my own ideas and suggestions, yet I could count on Doug to make some great choices on my behalf. I also appreciate how Doug, Patrick and team stand by their work, quick to address any issues after the close. I highly recommend McDowell fine homes for your new home or renovation.
