D&D Construction

Dave Mitchell of D & D Construction was professional and knowledgeable. Dave was very interested and motivated until he received the down payment on 1/9/20. The contract was to cover all building materials, labor permits, plans etc. When he finally started, I had to pay for everything including the heavy equipment and the labor. It was 1 problem after another. His crew stripped my house of siding ( was only supposed to be the back wall ), broke my plumbing clean outs & broke the gas line. Dave always had an excuse and would promise to fix it. He had one of his crew fix my clean outs, which I paid him for. Then I had to hire a plumber to fix it again. His guy fixed my gas line which I found out was a temporary line, which I paid him for. I had to hire another plumber to fix it. They left holes in the eaves and side crowns, broke pieces of the brick and I could go on. I would give him 0 stars but I had to pick one. I took care of my mother who had lung cancer and could not watch them every 15 minutes. I started out with the money to complete the addition but after I gave him approx. 1/3 down payment and paying for everything I will not be able to finish. I fired him and had to pay to fix all of his mistakes. I have the outside done but no bedroom. bathroom, kitchen, counter tops cabinets and all the rest that goes with it. I wish I had been able to pull up this kind of info on him before I hired him.

Dave Mitchell of D&D Construction was initially responsive, motivated, and professional until he received his initial payment and advance on our second contract payment which he used to fund another project leaving zero funds for our renovation. The contract was to include supplies and labor, which Dave could not afford, leaving us to purchase all materials including our kitchen counters. He did not pay his employees so they walked off our job. After three weeks of missed deadlines, poor communication, and inferior quality work, we were left moving into a home with paint caked on the floor, an unfinished bathroom, and a garage filled with trash. We later determined that Dave's electrician did not complete his electrical repairs in accordance with code requirements, resulting in electrical hazards.
