With 2 young kids, my husband and I decided there was a decision to make - it was either move, or make changes to our own home. We love our house, our neighborhood, and with the housing market being insane, we decided to take the plunge into an addition and complete kitchen remodel. From day 1, the Calyx team has been professional, fair and personable. Of course with COVID and inflation, pricing has increased, which was not their fault. Being without a kitchen for a few months was difficult with 2 kids and a big dog, but we made do - and the team was very aware of our situation - keeping the "inconvenience time" as low as possible. In the end, we did more than expected - a brand new kitchen, a 600 sq ft addition with fireplace, and a new roof and gutters. We'd highly recommend the Calyx team - Dan was our project manager, and he will be missed in our house, even by the kids! :)

These guys are great! The price is very fair and the service is excellent! Found the glass I needed and were able to get it and install it quickly.

We had Calyx come in to renovate our small and ONLY bathroom. To accommodate our inconvenience, a Porta John was supplied (not a terrible ordeal).The original projection of completion was six weeks but our project mgr, Steve, was able to coordinate his teams to reduce completion to three weeks. He was awesome. If we had a question or concern, all we had to do was text him. He would respond within 10 minutes… Every time. The workers Calyx employs work clean, respectfully, pleasant, considerate, professional, and most of all…just really good at what they do. Our job came out beautiful. So happy we went with Calyx. Will not hesitate to use Calyx again when we decide to do our next project..

We had a terrible experience with the company. The original project manager. George Jr was rude, unresponsive and extremely unprofessional. After demo was completed, they wanted to charge us $15000.00 for a structural engineer and additional fees for more demo. We have subsequently hired a new contractor, secured a structural engineer for $1200.00 and solved all our issues without additional monies. Word to the wise, stay away. Not interested in solving problems, just charging more $$. We fired them....awful experience and we wasted 6 months with these guys.

Comments on Project work: We had three written bids on a project to add ½ bath to our 2 bedroom, 1 bath condominium that was built in 1900. We selected Calyx Homes even though their bid was not the lowest. What influenced our decision was the professional detail and clarity of their proposal and the friendly but clearly experienced demeanor of Bob Brierley and his team. The Calyx recommendations from prior clients were also impressive. Calyx Homes met or exceeded our expectations by completing the project on time and producing wonderful results. The Vendors they recommended to select the bathroom furnishings were excellent and offered a wide choice of fixtures by price, design and quality. During the project Julie kept us well informed of progress as did the framing, electrical and plumbing, teams. They were consistently kind, professional and sensitive to the inevitable disruption a project of this kind causes in an occupied home. It was also clear that each of the teams working under her supervision worked well together. Calyx also responded very well when we requested work beyond the original scope of the project. They promptly furnished the cost estimate, we approved and the work was done. Overall, we were impressed and you can be sure we will call Calyx Homes first when our next project appears!

My experience with Calyx was not good. As soon as I hired them the "adjusted" the price up by 8K. Communication with them was poor. So many days and weeks when nobody showed. Oil stains in my driveway. Siding that fell off the house. Poor job installing vinyl shake shingles. Electrical outlets not working. Best of all the shower has been leaking since day one. So much so, the water is seeping thru the foundation. They have been promising to fix it for over a month. They should have fixed it when first reported. Now they laid off 1/2 the co. I'll have to hire a plumber!

Our project was to add a laundry to our first floor. This company communicated well, kept the project on target and did a beautiful job as well

Professional and Quality company. Calyx Builds handled my four projects in a timely and professional manner with specially trained persons. All work was started on time and completed on time. All materials used were of the highest of quality. I highly recommend Calyx Builds for any project you need done. None better .

We hired Calyx Builds for a major remodel of our kitchen and adjoining bathroom. Our house is over 30 years old and our cabinets, floor covering, counters, fixtures, and appliances were very dated. After discussions with Bob and Lauren at Calyx, along with a designer from another local business, we decided to replace our linoleum floor with tile, our laminate countertops with quartz, our light fixtures with recessed lighting and a new hanging unit, our wall space with a tiled backsplash, and our old-but-weathered cabinets with mid-range cabinetry. We also decided to tear down a small floor-to-celing pantry space to open up the kitchen for newer applicances and to redo the bathroom with a new toilet and vanity. Calyx's workmen and subs then came in and completed the project with a high degree of skill and expertise. Bob and Lauren were involved and attentive to the project as it progessed as well as were largely responsive with respect to our inquiries, minor changes, and occasional complaints. Their workmen were polite and respectful, in general, and seemed to be committed to doing a good job. Of course, as is normally the case with every major remodeling project, there were a couple of hiccups: the project took a number of weeks longer to complete than we had expected and we also had to deal with an unanticipated plumbing problem and an unexpected electrical power outage that probably could have been avoided with better planning or scheduling. Nevertheless, once the project was completed, my husband and I were very impressed and satisfied with the results. Our kitchen and bathroom are now beautiful and we are able to enjoy our remodeled rooms to the fullest. The Calyx people are down-to-earth, very friendly, and extremely professional in their approach and we would certainly consider using them again for any future home projects. In fact, my husband and I would give them 4 1/2 stars if the grading system allowed this option.

We would highly recommend Calyx Builds for your building or remodeling projects. We located them through Angie’s List and we were very happy with their work. Bob responded quickly to our request and gave us an estimate within two days of meeting with us. His team in competent, professional and thorough. We are more than pleased with the final product.

I hired Calyx to renovate (2) bathrooms, build an addition, and replace all the windows and trim to our house. The subcontractors they hired were clearly unqualified. They installed al of the trim using nail guns with standard interior nails. this is clearly unacceptable for exterior trim. When I told Bob he made limited effort to fix the problem and it is still not completed properly. His crew also did a terrible job fixing our siding. There were nails missing everywhere and they had to come back three times to fix the same mistakes. i got to the point I just fixed it myself. I recently had to replace the new wood flooring installed by calyx in our new addition. The floor warped due to the new addition door, ,installed by calyx, leaked. I contacted Bob to resolve the problem and he ignored my calls, emails and texts. When i went to the manufacturer of the door (Harveys) they were very helpful and upon inspection told me the door was installed improperly 9I have this in writing) and several steps in the install manual were not followed. i reached out to bob numerous times with no response. Bob boasts of customer service. It is easy when things go well but the real test is when it does not. Bob does what is best for Bob and not the customer. He takes the easy route to try to fix problems and when it becomes difficult he ignores you. I have a lot of construction knowledge and have written documentation to back up all my claims. Stay away from Calyx.
