We've hired Building Shelter for a few different projects, and each time we work with Ben we continue to be more impressed. Ben's impeccable craftsmanship, combined with his high regard for the environment and ethics, have consistently resulted in the best work we've ever had done on our house. Ben is extremely knowledgeable, always prompt and very conscientious in his communication both with us, as clients, and with his team who helped with some of the projects. Ben and the Building Shelter team are true professionals. From the initial walk through until the final completion every step was well thought out and expertly executed. Ben ability to manage the budget and client expectations led to a consistent clear honest line of communication. When I walked into the construction site after the project was completed I was in awe that the Hotel was ready to open back to the public with out any additional cleaning needed.

We chose Ben to build our mostly glass mostly modern one bedroom recreational facility in Martha's Vineyard. Ben and his staff did an amazing job. Ben has incredible attention to detail and he is genuinely dedicated to pursuing perfection in his craft. Ben is solution oriented and no challenge is too big. We liked his work so much that we asked him a couple of years later to construct our new outdoor kitchen, which we also love! Ben is honest and has integrity, you can't say that about all builders.

Ben Kelley and his crew at Building Shelter built our new guest home in Martha's Vineyard. Although the home is modest in size, it has many fine architectural details, is a smart home and includes a blue stone and wood deck, a hot tub and a tennis court. Building Shelter, along with our architects managed every aspect of the build -- from the demolition of the existing structure to the complete build and commissioning of the new structure. Building Shelter prides itself on building energy efficient homes, and our new home more than lives up to the claim. Our energy bills, both heating and cooling, are a fraction of what they would usually be because the build is so tight. These guys are perfectionists in all aspects of the job. Every mitered corner, every reveal around the windows, every door and window and each piece of hardware was carefully worked on and installed. The job had several challenges including an entire floor to ceiling glass room, an exterior custom built outdoor spiral staircase and outdoor flooring that had to be precisely matched to the indoor flooring. All of these architectural details were flawlessly executed by Building Shelter. Apart from the quality of the build and in some ways as important, is the honesty and integrity of this company. There was never any concern on our part that we were being taken misled or were being over charged. Ben stands by his word and the high quality of his work.

Benjamin Kelley came to us highly recommended by an architect and two trusted tradesmen quite familiar with his business. Our initial meeting with Ben, and subsequent working with him, was most impressive. We have been fortunate over the years to have worked with a number of contractors in other locations with whom we had very satisfying experiences. Ben and his crew exceeded all our hopes and expectations on multiple levels. His management style and skills became immediately apparent to us. We were favorably impressed by his ability at scheduling the many facets of the project and working closely to that schedule; the skillfulness in which he selected his work crew and sub-contractors; the manner in which he conducted himself on site with workers and client; and the timeliness in which we were kept abreast of work progress and the impact of changes we requested. The knowledge, experience, and professionalism of Ben and his workers instilled in us a very comforting level of confidence as the project progressed. Most impressive was Ben's ability in personally guiding the results in concert with his highly tuned pursuit of excellence. We have stayed in touch with Ben as he has been very responsive to taking on other projects with us and has always been available for sharing his extensive knowledge in response to the many maintenance challenges encountered by owners of older Island homes. It became clear to us that Ben has a deep desire for increased knowledge pertaining to the skills of his profession and we frequently find him in search of that knowledge wherever it may take him. We not only have been immensely satisfied with all our work experiences with Ben, but we like him a lot. He is a pleasure to work with – conscientious, considerate, passionate about his work, extremely dependable, and very respectful. The fact is that he cares deeply about his work and that quality has translated to great comfort and satisfaction in this client/contractor relationship.
