Bill Taylor provided design and build services. Bill and Steve Austin were excellent to work with. Their combined experience resulted in an attractive and functional addition to our master suite. We would most definitely work with them again.

The “Dream Big” Project – How WE met While searching houzz.com for an architect who was modern, experienced, and creative, I clicked on Bil (with one l) Taylor. He drew me in with his artist statement; Then..... I clicked on his portfolio; so original, modern, and fresh. For the past year and a half, Bil and I have been collaborating on the DesIgN And re-BuILd of our 1950's burnt adobe home in Arizona. We purchased it 20 years ago with the intent of one day "refreshing" it with a “modern feel”. Bil's originality, sensitivity, and wit have been present throughout the process. We continue to have a lively, friendly and honest collaboration into the building phase. Every time we engage he leaves me feeling inspired!

We totally gutted, remodeled and added onto our house. Taylordesign was the architect and builder for this project. Bil's insight was great. One day, he came into our house, took a hammer into the ceiling in our foyer and found a beautiful confluence of beams that are now exposed and a main feature to our entrance. He has a great sense of how to bring natural light into the house and the flow is very natural. We joined two buildings together that were once separated with a walkway that has full length windows and it is difficult to tell that there were two different buildings and not originally designed as two separate wings of a house. We added a second roof for better insulation and to install can lighting in the ceiling.We are always getting compliments on our house and it was featured in one of our local magazines for outstanding remodeled homes. Since Bil has worked on our house, we have often visited his new projects that are part of different home shows. He is always updating his knowledge and using the newest energy efficient materials. He was very pleasant to work with and listens well.

We have worked with Bil Taylor design-build for a remodel at home, a 5 acre building project for our business, and some smaller projects at work as well. He has always been a good listener, patient, responsive and easy to work with. His creative vision has produced great results and visitors continually remark on our beautiful campus.

Acting upon the recommendation of our Massachusetts architects, we interviewed and contracted with Bil Taylor to work with us over a period of time to design and build an extension to a 1940s suburban home. The project expanded to include a total revamp of the existing structure with the master suite new construction extension. It was a seamless project: Bil knew where to go to get great subs and we were always included in everything we wanted to know: no surprises nor hidden agendas/costs. Bil was always ready to engage us; it was a professional relationship that took into account our long-distance mutual trust - he for us as clients and we for him as our design-build team. We would go to Bil again for any design/build projects! Positive all the way!

Starting with an initial bubble design which Bil Taylor and I developed together, Bil created a wonderful design which not only incorporated all of the elements I wanted (e.g. a totally private wing for myself) along with numerous features of his own (e.g. a roof garden visible to the 2nd floor guest bedrooms). I was 2500 miles away during the construction phase, but what I remember best is that whenever something arose about which Bil wanted to consult with me, he not only presented the issue in complete detail, but always had at least one possible solution which he could recommend; I always followed his advice, and now am the proud owner of a unique, award-winning home, all brought in on budget and within schedule. It was a tremendous experience working with Bil.

I see this "Tuesday-Thursday" house frequently when riding my bicycle on Tucson's loop path. It's always a delight to pass by and take in the rich combination of textures and materials in this stunning piece of sculpture for desert living.

I worked with and Hired Bil Taylor in 2003 to help me and my girlfriend design and build our dream house. He helped us through the design process going through extensive floor plan options. Once we had decided on the design, we went into the Build phase and he built our dream home in less than a year with amazing results. Our house ended up being 3662 sq feet on one level with one wing of the house being the master suite, the other wing the guest suite and in the middle a Gourmet Kitchen and a beautiful entry with large windows looking out to the Mountains and our pool. Bil did a great job of cutting costs while still giving us a very high quality home. He included outstanding landscaping: trees, Rose Bushes, and plants with their own irrigation to make a great house even more beautiful. After the project was complete, he stayed in touch making sure any new house problems we taken care of. And those that did come up were taken care of right away at little or no charge.

Bil Taylor and his team provided the architectural design and construction management for a new addition (2 BR/2BA) and renovation (Kitchen and Family Room) in our house. He was able to integrate our ideas, and a designer's ideas with his own ideas, and developed a plan that was then implemented on budget and on time. Bil was responsive, timely, professional, and easy to work with. He understood what we wanted and was able to deliver it.

Taylor gets a definite 'thumbs up'. We chose him primarily because of his design/build credentials as we were anxious to avoid 'function' getting lost in 'form'. Taylor was also willing and capable of employing digital technology to keep us up-to-date on progress when we were offsite. He worked hard to understand our vision and kept it front of mind. He was sensitive to cost issues and was willing to be creative when possible. While not necessarily a 'green' contractor, he was willing to incorporate 'green' technologies and locate the right subs to do the work. Taylor believes strongly in himself and his vision, but was willing to listen to others when required. Indeed, he assembled an excellent team of subcontractors with only the very occasional dud.

Bil and I have been friends for quite a while but I was fortunate enough to work on his Canyon Pass project as kitchen and bath designer. It was a wonderful experience for me as Bil is a genuine artist without the usual temperament. He is thoughtful and generous in design discussions and open and encouraging to the ideas of others. He takes advantage of the site, making the mundane into a framed treasure with window sizes and placement. His sense of proportion and balance are fabulous, and choices of materials are well applied. I hope to have the opportunity to work with him again!
