Bryce Biery did a room addition and deck addition for us in the Highlands. He was on time and on budget the project turned out beautifully. He had an extremely short window of time to get the project completed and he did. I highly recommend him.

We had the unique opportunity to make the most of a space to create covered parking and a "tree house" screened porch. Bryce and his team were superior at all levels: timely; highest quality; excellent professional communication; always kept my family informed; wonderful interpretation of architectural drawings; keen ability to organically create features that enhance the project; always on site and available evenings and weekends to work into our schedule, through the entire project; maintained a safe and clean work site. He and his team take pride in their work, as though the project is for their own home. While on site, we had some opportunities to improve efficiencies in our turn of the century home, Bryce shared his knowledge and he was able to make several energy saving improvements in our home, while respecting its historical integrity.

Bryce Biery Construction recently completed a remodel project at my 90 year old Highlands home. The initial project included a complete kitchen remodel, complete bathroom remodel and a laundry room addition. Bryce came highly recommended by other professionals. And I also visited several projects Bryce either had completed or had in progress. He was very knowledgeable, worked with my architect on a concise plan and presented a detailed contract. Bryce is a hands-on contractor. Although he had multiple people working for him, he was on the project daily and checked in with me in the evening to insure the project was progressing to my satisfaction. He utilized first-rate materials, hired excellent sub-contractors, provided high quality workmanship, was attentive to detail and maintained a clean work area. Throughout the project Bryce made suggestions to enhance my home. These included dining room updates, enlarging garage area and adding a patio. These additions to the original project added value to my home. I have received many compliments since the project was completed. I am very satisfied with his work and would highly recommend Bryce Biery Construction.

Bryce Biery Construction has worked on my house several times in the last 3 years and has always provided excellent service and top notch quality work. I have also hired him to perform work for my commercial construction business in Central Park and the Cherokee Triangle. I first hired him to replace old, rotten wood siding on the back of my house. My house was built in 1910 and is located in the Highlands near Cherokee Park. It's important to me that any new work I do on my house incorporates the same details and quality of construction as it was originally built. I quickly realized Bryce Biery as a kindred spirit. He was very careful to use modern materials such as fiber cement siding, but still re-created all the trim around windows and doors to match exactly the look of the original trim. He is excellent in working through the details of budgets and schedules to arrive at a finished product that he and the owner can be proud of for many years. He has also rebuilt my front and back porches and worked on remodeling my entire second floor of my house. Most recently, I hired him to construct a public play park in the Cherokee Triangle. He worked with myself and the landscape architect to construct a detailed wood fence, play fort, boardwalks and several play structures. Bryce Biery worked over 100 hours one week in order to make sure the project was completed in time for the grand opening. I was very impressed with his dedication and commitment to the project.

I've worked with Bryce Biery for a number of years, and I've always ben impressed with his energy and enthusiasm for remodeling. Bryce and his crew are punctual, honest, and easy to get along with. I consider Bryce Biery Construction as one of the top residential remodeling companies in Louisville, and wouldn't hesitate to hire Bryce to work on my own home.

I wanted to hire this company so bad. Bryce came highly recommended, had beautiful project photos and was timely and professional on our first meeting. He seemed to be perfect for the 115 year old house I was trying to buy. My restoration was large scale and needed to be historically appropriate. He threw out some numbers on our walk through which all seemed to be fair, and I worked out an exhaustive spec list along with drawings, measurements and photographs to make his estimating the job easier. After 10 days I get the "estimate". First it was so high my heart jumped into my throat. But as I read it, it was obvious this was a "blow off" quote. None of my specs were listed, instead it would have a line item saying "$15,000 allowance for materials". No! I don't want an allowance! I want the items I selected noted in the breakdown! But the worst was the pricing - things that he told me would be "oh about $8000" were listed in the quote as $24000! what - how can you be THAT far off - oh right, this is a blow off quote designed to get me to go away. great, well, I'm gone. sorry I was trying to give you money.

Bryce and his team did an outstanding job on the exterior restoration of my home. Bryce was very attentive to details and made a number of recommendations to enhance the project to bring the home back to it's original character that I had not thought about. I was very impressed with the quality of the work and the fact that he showed up when he said he would be here and ensured his crew cleaned up every day and put their tools and materials away.

My wife and I updated and enlarged a rural house built on two acres in 1951. The actual site of the house presented a challenge. Its "footprint" is confined by a driveway we didn't want to change, mature trees we didn't want to damage, and the slope of a hill. As a result, the plan called for constructing unusual angles in new walls as the west and east side of the house were removed and rebuilt outward.
We had never undertaken such a project so we needed a general contractor who would explain the process, the materials used, and what to expect from the reconstruction. We learned to rely on Mr. Biery's judgment and he always patiently answered our questions.
We also liked the fact that he expected his employees to act professionally and to clean up after themselves, which they did every day.
We were impressed that Mr. Biery thinks about his profession and clearly enjoys mastering and staying on top of developments in his field.

Bryce Biery Construction completed a bathroom remodel, kitchen remodel, and attic completion in 2011. He is creative, crafty, professional, skilled, and honest. He created the exact space I was looking for on the budget I communicated to him. His knowledge of older homes and his ability to historically restore them is remarkable.

My first contact with Bryce Biery Construction came upon the recommendation of a window restorer. He assured me Biery Construction was one of the best in the business and I'm delighted to say that no truer words have ever been spoken.
The decorative wood trim on my 35 year old Tudor style home was slowly deteriorating not to mention the moisture that was eating away at parts of the synthetic stucco. Bryce immediately determined that aluminum 'flashing' was needed where the stucco met the brick. He also suggested using Windsor boards to replace the trim which has a lifetime warranty.
The newly installed trim really freshened up the exterior and looks original to the house while the aluminum flashing has eliminated my water issues. Bryce also enlarged two single casement windows to double casements and again, they look original to the home. Finally, his clean up is absolutely meticulous. I've never seen a stray nail, sawdust, or any other evidence that a work crew has been at my home.
I look forward to a long professional relationship with Bryce Biery Construction. The guy absolutely knows his stuff. Compared to other contractors I've dealt with, he is an expert in all areas of home construction and repair. It is with pleasure that I HIGHLY recommend Bryce Biery Construction for any and all home improvement needs.

-10 days for an "estimate". We do not use estimating software. All of the budgets I put together are completely custom as our projects are completely custom, so I have to write and describe each task or line item specific to the project. It typically takes between one and three weeks to prepare a budget document.
-The allowances, Unless there formal plans or blue prints (from a qualified architect or designer) I will never specify finish materials (such as cabinets or tile). A few reasons are: by the time the projects begins the items are unavailable, backordered, discontinued, etc and I am contractually obligated to provide them; The owner will have changed their mind on the finishes and wants to choose something else and in which case we'll have to write a change order; Another phase of the project will run over budget and we need to reallocate funds (in which case is easiest to use allowance monies). If you had called or emailed me back, we could have omitted the allowance money and wrote in the document "provided by owner," which would also have saved money.
-The $8,000 item: I remember telling you "about $8,000.00", we were standing in the back yard at 126- S. Floyd St. facing the rear of the home and I was referring to painting the house. The line item you are referring to (I copied and pasted below) I will explain: There were numerous other items included in the line item, if you only wanted to budget for painting the house we could have omitted the other items. However you never asked me any questions or to revise the budget.
So I'm assuming you wrote the review because you were upset because the budget was more than you could afford, unfortunately remodeling is very expensive, and I specifically told you (when we were in one of the upstairs bedrooms at 126- S. Floyd St. that a house like that would be very expensive and years worth of work, (as the house is 115 years old, wood framed and partially neglected), and you said you were ready for the project and had been looking to buy and remodel an old home for a long time.
Another note: I specifically told your realtor (via phone on or around 6-20-16) that the project was around 100K and asked him if that was within your budget, and he stated "her budget is up to her to decide, just get the estimate to her," the budget was less than 100k, so the realtor could have told you that you were going to be out of your price range, before you even received the document. However you looked at the prices at "face value" and assumed I was blowing you off, had you called or emailed with questions I could have answered them and explained. I'm certain we could have performed a project that you were happy with and within your budget.
If I was going to blow you off, I would have told you on the phone that I was not interested in the project and not spent an hour onsite looking at the project and spent hours writing an accurate budget.
I am sincerely sorry that you were upset with the prices in the budget but as you stated in your "review" that I was "highly recommended, had beautiful project photos and timely and professional on our first meeting". For high-end remodeling and carpentry work from a legitimate business with many credentials the prices will be higher than "competitors". However we pride ourselves on our services and we stand behind everything we say and do.
I also believe that you created an account on Houzz only to bash me and my business, which I feel is very unfair.
