About Us

Your garden should be an extension of your home; inside should feel inclusive of the garden, the garden as part of the Architecture. What is being marketed as "green design" in the construction industry is what Landscape Architects have been doing since 1863. Landscape Architects have always worked responsibly with the environment. Our choices of design, materials, & method of construction ultimately determines the success of a design. That's why I use 80% native plantings in every one of my designs. They last and look like they belong here, because they do. It's a matter of creating "Place", which is unique to our natural habitat. "What keeps me coming back, - It's hard work - the thing that keeps me coming back is that you get something right, that you've made this picture that works. I'm healing the native landscape. It fits with what was here before, it fits with the native wildlife, and it fits with the community. I can't think of anything more Florida than that."

We hired Dane to bring some life to a very tired exterior on a mid century restoration project. What he did was transform our very bland and neglected home into a cohesive, striking visual statement that respects the period and location of our home. Dane has excellent vision and focus; he responded to our preferences and multiple queries respectfully and took the time to educate us in the process. We love his commitment to using native plant material in creative ways. The final product is amazing and we are so very happy and proud everytime we pull into our driveway. We have people stop us all the time when we are outside to tell us that they just cannot get over the positive change.

I have worked with Dane Spencer in the past few years on several Custom Residential projects. I am always amazed at the attention and care to detail that Dane commits to his designs and to the quality that he expects from his entire team including his subcontractors. Dane understands the Architectural design intent and carries it into his work, on each project he extends the design into the Landscape creating wonderful composition that do not contrast or or try to overdo the architecture, instead they compliment and enhance the it - This is truly the most an Architect can ask for his projects. I am nearing the completion of a large custom house with Dane, and I cannot wait to see the final result.

I worked with Dane. His talent and creativity is amazing. The use of the plants and the space you have is just unique. You can have a house but then you bring Dane to it. He will transform it into a castle. Just check his work and you will see what I'm talking about. He is always on time and direct to the point. Thanks Dane.

I happened into Dana's office not knowing anything about him or his business. After explaining the project I had in mind he drew up, within a short period of time, a beautiful rendering of our side yard's potential. A contract was agreed upon which included the design,the hiring of individuals to do the work and his overseeing of it to its completion. Everything went smoothly and we ended up with a beautiful and functional space that had been an eyesore. Everyone that sees it asks us for his business card. We couldn't have been more pleased. Working with Dane on the plan for our soon-to-be renovated midcentury modern home has been a great experience. His plan impacts exterior as well as interior spaces, and is simple but elegant in the way it addresses our concerns for privacy in the home while still experiencing the landscape that surrounds our home. Dane focuses on intergration of house and site with an eye to appropriate indigenous materials and an awareness of locale. The hardscaping he created plays off the lines of the house while offering screening and seating areas. His choice of plant materials furthers the feeling of rootedness in a locale, in our case, a beach community. I can highly recommend Dane for the vision he'll bring to a project. From what I've experiened he listens to you, the house and the site to create something that answers your needs exactly, yet in an unexpected manner.
