We interviewed three local builders in the Lehigh Valley and settled on Ruhmel Contracting, Inc. because 1.) we were impressed with their quality materials, custom designs, and “greener” way of thinking and building; 2.) Hersh was the ONLY builder willing to help us find land; and 3.) after spending too many years paying for expensive heating products, one of our priorities was to build an energy efficient home. We were moving from another state and we were unfamiliar with the area. Hersh spent countless hours helping us look for and find a great location. We were downsizing and wanted a one-level open floor plan that met our needs. Robin was great at helping us choose materials and products and walking us through the whole process. Once we found land, our design was then completed and construction began. Building took about 6 months and we were in. We love our home! And Hersh and Robin still take our phone calls when we have questions. They also continue to give us great recommendations for companies and products in the local area. We would definitely recommend Ruhmel Contracting Inc. to anyone looking to build a quality, energy efficient, custom home!

We have had the pleasure of living in a Ruhmel home for almost 10 years. Hersh and Robin are wonderful to work with, both prior to home completion, as well as afterwards. Over the last 10 years, Hersh has always been happy to answer any general maintenance questions we have had. We recently sold our house, and we will miss everything about our Ruhmel home, the quality, the craftsmanship, low energy bills, attention to detail, but most of all, we will miss how hassle-free our house has been! If we could do it all over again, we would buy our Ruhmel home again with no hesitation!

5 stars for the professional team of Ruhmel Contracting, Inc. for finding land to build a custom total electric energy efficient home from scratch with low electric bills monthly. The Ruhmel's worked tirelessy to complete excellent quality work with the professionalism we expected and impressed us immensely. We love our custom home and would not change anything. They nailed it. This was a totally great experience working with them. We highly recommend them.

My parents built a house with Hersh 20 years ago and still rave about their experience working with him and the quality of their home - it's still in great shape! When my wife and I moved into the area, there was no question who we wanted to work with. We loved his focus on doing things the right way, experience with energy efficient technologies and practices, and the homes he and Robin build are so beautiful. They helped us with an extensive search for land, although we couldn't find a great fit in our tight budget. Hersh stuck with us and helped us find a great existing home, and there's no one else we'd want on our side when checking out the bones of a house. We highly recommend him, and still call him for recommendations whenever we need work done on the house. Thanks Hersh!

Robin and a Hersh have done multiple projects, they renovated our kitchen and bathroom. Project was completed on time and with beautiful results. They use excellent subcontractors who do high quality work. We have also used their broker services in both buying and selling. They provided excellent advice and service through the process. We are using them again to put some bells and whistles in our new house. Great design.

Hersh and Robin Ruhmel are a pleasure to work with and provide attention to detail like no other. They take pride in their work and are always concerned about your approval and happiness. They work closely with you on all aspects and are honest and up front about options to help you make the right decisions. You can feel secure knowing they are on top of things to make sure you have exactly what you want and the best construction possible.

So often you read that building a new home is one of the most stressful experiences you can undertake. Our experience with the Ruhmels completely dispels this theory, in fact, we found the building process to be fun, enjoyable and relatively stress-free. The personal attention we received from Hersh made us feel that our home was the only one he was working on. The project became a partnership, and we always felt he took as much pride in our home as we did. After ten years, our friendship with Hersh remains strong, and he is always willing to answer questions and provide advice. Thank you Hersh!!

Building a home with Hersh Ruhmel was a disaster!! We have built nine new homes, one of them regrettably with Ruhmel. The finished product was substandard and Ruhmel did very little to correct the problems--drywall, painting, woodwork, and stucco. After many attempts to hold Ruhmel and his inferior subcontractors accountable, we sold the house. We would not recommend this "homebuilder" to anyone!!

Ruhmel built 2 homes for us. They made the overwhelming process of our home construction so easy. Both of our homes were done exactly on time, there was always someone working on the house. After many years, they remain a phone call away for us if we have questions or need home advice. They not only built our home, they built a lasting relationship for which we are forever grateful.

We hired Ruhmel Contracting to design and build an outdoor living area that we could enjoy. Without a doubt, they exceeded our expectations by creating a true "work of art" upper and lower level veranda, outdoor living space complete with stucco, stoneworks, arches, tile floor, and a very unique glass enclosed handrail so we can enjoy the beautiful views from our yard. The attention to detail and old world craftsmanship really impressed us. In addition, the professionalism, patience and expertise of Hersh, Robin and Reid Ruhmel made the entire experience an absolute pleasure from start to finish and beyond. They kept us informed every step of the way during the project. Their follow up and constant communication really impressed us. We are presently discussing our next project with Ruhmel Contracting. If you need help getting started, stop by HoudenHAL, their design center on old Route 22 - the possibilities are endless from energy savings to innovative designs! We cannot say enough about how happy we are with our project and experience working with Ruhmel Contracting!!!

Needed a new kitchen and wanted one that was state of the art. Ruhmel provided expert design services from flooring to cabinets to appliances to paint and tile selection. As with any older home, surprises emerged as the demolition was proceeding. Ruhmel was able to bring in a crew to correct the discovered deficiencies without any significant change to the completion date. We will definitely use Ruhmel for our next renovation project.
