The original brick home remained, though the front entrance was altered to make way for a main floor powder room. A new skirt roof provides cover for the entrance as well as texture and depth to the facade by extending it across the full front of the home. Georgian SDL windows pay hommage to the original aesthetic while gently altering the Architectural feel. Photo by Andrew Snow Photography

This beautiful one-story brick rancher located in Henrico County is impressive. Painting brick can be a hard decision to make but it’s a tried and true way of updating your home’s exterior without replacing the masonry. While some brick styles have stood the test of time, others have become dated more quickly. Moreover, many homeowners prefer a solid color for their home as compared to the natural variety of brick. This home was painted with Benjamin Moore’s Mayonnaise, a versatile bright white with a touch of creamy yellow.

The original house, built in 1953, was a red brick, rectangular box. All that remains of the original structure are three walls and part of the original basement. We added everything you see including a bump-out and addition for a gourmet, eat-in kitchen, family room, expanded master bedroom and bath. And the home blends nicely into the neighborhood without looking bigger (wider) from the street. Every city and town in America has similar houses which can be recycled. Photo courtesy Andrea Hubbell

AFTER photo. Full revamp including staining the brick, spray painting vinyl windows and spray painting the stucco (not including front door & gutters). Our stain delivers the breathability & permanent colour transformation you need to cost-effectively revamp your home. Since the porosity of each brick can differ, we’ve formulated a stain that combines the adhesiveness of a paint with the permanent finish of a stain. When latex paint is applied to brick, the film simply lays on top of the surface. This stops moisture inside of the brick from evaporating, leading to blistering & peeling. Our stain travels deep into the pores of your brick and through the chemical process of crystallization, it becomes part of the brick itself, allowing your brick to continuously breathe. For brick with decreased porosity, our stain also has the unique ability to grip to the top of the surface for optimal adhesion. Give us a call to book your free in-home consultation! (604) 260-4525

This house is firmly planted in the Shenandoah Valley, while its inspiration is tied to the owner’s British ancestry and fondness for English country houses. Situated on an abandoned fence line between two former pastures, the home engages pastoral views from all of the major rooms.
