Void House
This was an exciting commission located in Glebe and within a conservation area for Sydney City Council. We managed to explore an addition which showed an architectural solution which respected the existing federation home through materiality though the form was clearly contemporary. We had challenges whereby the neighbouring building was a set of apartments and privacy was a real issue. Opening the house to gain solar access and ventilation whilst maintaining privacy for the family was an important factor to the end result. Our client should be applauded in giving us an open brief on architectural style which resulted in quite a unique alteration and addition.
