Hand Painted Mural
The hand painted mural is reminiscent of a Verdure tapestry. Trees branch up and over door frames. The movement of the painting follows the line of the staircase. The task of climbing the stairs is transformed into a pleasant walk on the forest path.

Decorations were placed at the bottom of the banister instead of on top of the banister. Pine, magnolia and cranberries were the main theme. Brenda Corder

Bird's Eye View
The view from the second floor looking back at the foyer, illustrates the symmetry of the double front door and skirted consoles. The curly maple balusters are original to the home. The wool rug is a reproduction of William Morris' Country Floral Design. The hand painted mural was inspired by Maxfield Parish, a prolific artist in the Art Nouveau era. Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau and Victorian are all eras that were heavily influenced by natural and organic design. These elements blend seamlessly in this foyer and create a bright, interesting space for modern living.
