This warm and inviting mudroom with entry from the garage is the inspiration you need for your next custom home build. The walk-in closet to the left holds enough space for shoes, coats and other storage items for the entire year-round, while the white oak custom storage benches and compartments in the entry make for an organized and clutter free space for your daily out-the-door items. The built-in-mirror and table-top area is perfect for one last look as you head out the door, or the perfect place to set your keys as you look to spend the rest of your night in.

This 1950’s mid century ranch had good bones, but was not all that it could be - especially for a family of four. The entrance, bathrooms and mudroom lacked storage space and felt dark and dingy. The main bathroom was transformed back to its original charm with modern updates by moving the tub underneath the window, adding in a double vanity and a built-in laundry hamper and shelves. Casework used satin nickel hardware, handmade tile, and a custom oak vanity with finger pulls instead of hardware to create a neutral, clean bathroom that is still inviting and relaxing. The entry reflects this natural warmth with a custom built-in bench and subtle marbled wallpaper. The combined laundry, mudroom and boy's bath feature an extremely durable watery blue cement tile and more custom oak built-in pieces. Overall, this renovation created a more functional space with a neutral but warm palette and minimalistic details. One of the most important rooms in the house, the Mudroom had to accommodate everyone’s needs coming and going. As such, this nerve center of the home has ample storage, space to pull off your boots, and a house desk to drop your keys, school books or briefcase. Kadlec Architecture + Design combined clever details using O’Brien Harris stained oak millwork, foundation brick subway tile, and a custom designed “chalkboard” mural.
