The staircase is circular with a cut string made out of stone. The spindles are made out of metal 16mm with added casts on every other spindle. We had to install the oak continuous handrail over the metal plate We did this by scanning the top of the metal plate with our laser and converted the information in our staircase software . One of our clients' main requirements was to improve the circulation between the kitchen/dining area and the living room, half a level above, whilst retaining some separation. This has been achieved by installing a set of angled steps to the side of the semicircular veneered larder, which lead to glazed double doors opening-into the living room. Photography: Bruce Hemming

Stadthaus, Frankfurt/M. Sanierung und Umbau eines Hauses im Frankfurter Nordend. Das ehemals dreigeschossige Bürgerhaus aus den 60er Jahren des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde nach dem 2. Weltkrieg durch ein Mezzaningeschoss erweitert. Die desolate Bausubstanz und der heruntergekommene Zustand machen weitreichende Sanierungs- und Umbaumaßnahmen nötig. Die neue Sandsteinfassade mit den ebenengleich angeordneten Schiebeläden aus Eiche versucht eine zeitgemäße Interpretation eines bürgerlichen Stadthauses, ohne den klassizistischen Ursprung zu verleugnen. Dadurch wird die Fassade zweifach lesbar: einerseits traditionell mit dreizoniger Gliederung andererseits modern durch die Zusammenfassung in einen „Fensterblock“ und die horizontale Schichtung der verschieden starken Steinlagen.

In un edificio residenziale alle porte di Parma si realizza un intervento di ristrutturazione ed accorpamento di due appartamenti disposti su tre livelli complessivi. L'obiettivo è quello di definirire un'identità forte e riconoscibile all'intera abitazione. Forme stravaganti e colori allegri arricchiscono l'ambiente pensato per una famiglia con bambini. Soprattutto per loro si articola il progetto: un mondo sognante e colorato racchiuso tra le mura domestiche, per stimolare la creatività e liberare la fantasia. Il progettista volge lo sguardo ad un passato non lontano, quello popolato di idee bizzarre e divertenti del Radical Design italiano. Così la casa si popola di elementi surreali...dai buffi totem alla Sottsass agli scenari alieni di Superstudio, dai neon colorati del Gruppo Ufo alla sorprendente scala elicoidale, la cui forma così perfetta e impossibile ci accompagna da un piano all'altro come in un viaggio fantastico.
