Lankford Associates Landscape Architects
A deck and patio lead from the log cabin to a fire ring above the bluff overlooking the lake. Carefully controlled edging to the lawn created order from the surroundings and emphasized the clients desire for off setting the rustic nature of the log home. Low maintenance plantings and a simple gravel pathway connect the gardens with the residence.
This lodge style bungalow is located on a small lake on the Western side of Washington State.

The homeowner was very particular about clean landscape beds and well-manicured plants. The use of hardy evergreens and perennials was paramount to the success of the garden areas. Stone edger was used to separate the mulch beds from the lawn area.

This traditional garden included a large sandstone patio that wrapped around the house and sloped down towards a summerhouse positioned to be in the sunniest part of the garden. The summerhouse and pergola were created with larch, oak and cedar and designed to have a rustic character. Steel steps in the lawn helped to transition from the upper lawn to the lower area.
