When we drove out to Mukilteo for our initial consultation, we immediately fell in love with this house. With its tall ceilings, eclectic mix of wood, glass and steel, and gorgeous view of the Puget Sound, we quickly nicknamed this project "The Mukilteo Gem". Our client, a cook and baker, did not like her existing kitchen. The main points of issue were short runs of available counter tops, lack of storage and shortage of light. So, we were called in to implement some big, bold ideas into a small footprint kitchen with big potential. We completely changed the layout of the room by creating a tall, built-in storage wall and a continuous u-shape counter top. Early in the project, we took inventory of every item our clients wanted to store in the kitchen and ensured that every spoon, gadget, or bowl would have a dedicated "home" in their new kitchen. The finishes were meticulously selected to ensure continuity throughout the house. We also played with the color scheme to achieve a bold yet natural feel.This kitchen is a prime example of how color can be used to both make a statement and project peace and balance simultaneously. While busy at work on our client's kitchen improvement, we also updated the entry and gave the homeowner a modern laundry room with triple the storage space they originally had. End result: ecstatic clients and a very happy design team. That's what we call a big success! John Granen.

The true testament to a modern kitchen is its minimalistic approach. This beautiful walnut kitchen is accented by the white high gloss cabinetry portrayed in both the main kitchen and prep kitchen. The homeowners wanted to turn a transitional style house into a modern masterpiece. When you walked through the front door, there was a wall in between the dining and kitchen that closed off the space into “rooms” and created additional angles to the house in which the homeowners did not like. To create the open, modern feel, we decided to take down a non-load bearing wall that housed the original pantry and refrigerator. Now you can walk through the front door and the expansive kitchen, dining and sunken living room welcome you with a stunning view of the bay. The new cabinets were done in the Madrid door in a combination of Bistro and Walnut to create a two-toned look. We also installed a new backsplash and Quartzite countertop with a waterfall edge.

This classic look with a long main run and large island is a perfect design solution for this newly created extra-large kitchen extension in Balham. Our Modern Shaker style in mid-grey was successfully used here with the large island in a contrasting dark navy/grey. The main appliances and fridge/freezer were placed on the main wall run with the induction hob in the middle and framed perfectly by the tall units. The large island with the sink, dishwasher and L- shaped seating creates not only a great preparation area but also a space for the family to seat casually or when entertaining. An additional bank of tall units placed by the entrance were designed to house the utility part of the kitchen with the washing machine, tumble dryer and the megaflow cylinder all hidden away. The overall design gives our client lots of space for a busy family life and entertaining, with plenty of space around the dining table and a generous seating area for relaxing by the garden doors.
