Patterned bluestone, board-on-board concrete and seasonal containers establish strength of line in the front landscape design. Plants are subordinate components of the design and just emerging from their winter dormancy.

The addition of bold yet simple architectural details - a series of four "spider legs" inspired by the iconic mid-century architect, Richard Neutra, added drama and definition to the new front entry. Low ground cover
softens the new concrete step pads, while colorful succulents and flowering plants replaced the thirsty lawn, providing a dynamic and easy-care front garden. (c) 2017 Jacklyn Curry Design

Just a couple of months after installation. We designed and installed this dramatic living wall / vertical garden to add a welcoming focal point, and a great way to add living beauty to the large front house wall. The wall includes a variety of succulents, grass-like and cascading plants some with flowers, (some with flowers, Oxalis and Lamium) designed to provide long cascading "waves" with appealing textures and colors. The dated walkway was updated with large geometric concrete pavers with polished black pebbles in between, and a new concrete driveway. Water-wise grasses flowering plants and succulents replace the lawn. This updated modern renovation for this mid-century modern home includes a new garage and front entrance door and modern garden light fixtures. BK Landscape Design
This was a garden space that was a blank slate. All that existed before we conceptualized this garden was water loving turf. BKLD added two outdoor entertaining spaces in this small yard with a colored concrete patio and a crushed rock terrace for an informal fire feature. Umbrella stands were poured into the concrete so that outdoor umbrella's could provide shade and not blow away in this windier corridor of Petaluma. Who's ready for a beverage and some smores?

Embark on a journey of transformation with our Farrell Palm Springs Reimagined project - a bold tear-down and remodel venture that elevates the concept of modern desert living. Nestled in the heart of Palm Springs, this project envisions the creation of a harmonious oasis by tearing down the existing structure and giving rise to a contemporary masterpiece complete with a casita and a beautiful outdoor living area. This project creates a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Custom built for fire resistance. Board formed concrete seating and patio. Color added to blend into the existing granite hillside. Salt finish adds texture to camouflage into the surroundings. Custom metal pergola and under bench lighting add to the uniqueness of this hilltop hangout.
Alderwood Landscape Architecture and Construction
One of the challenges of this space was working the client's needs into the design while still maintaining the existing retaining wall. Alderwood added night lighting, opened up the wall for the new fire pit, and created a functional outdoor kitchen space.

Transformed and transported this Desert Mid-Century Modern from Palm Springs straight to this North Scottsdale home. Every detail was highly considered, even down to the customer made breeze block to create this on-trend screen wall. Everything is new, all plants, cactus, agave, succulents, plants, and lighting. A very large thank you to our incredible client. We are thankful to have been part of this special project!

The front and back areas surrounding this Eichler home were updated with the mid-century modern design aesthetic in mind. The back landscape includes concrete retaining walls and pathways and the "Gracie Modern Arbors" (by TerraTrellis) provide eye-catching focal points, three installed to bring interest and needed height over a long pathway ramp with grape vines. Another frames a stairway to the hillside with a flowering Passion vine. The sloped hillsides were revamped to include low-water and low-maintenance plants that include CA natives, flowing grasses, other Mediterranean plants and several succulents. The Front landscape takes on a minimalist design with architectural Barrel Cactus, Artichoke Agaves, stately Thatching Reeds, a Blue Palm (Brahea 'Clara') a Mediterranean Fan Palm and other easy-care plants. The corten steel sculpture offers a striking focal point adjacent to the front doorway.
