Syndicate West Architects
Our client, a family, have a mid century property in Upper Walthamstow. They approached Syndicate West Architects for ideas for a loft conversion and rear extension, expecting the ubiquitous "box on the back". Through the design process, we settled on something far more subtle and in keeping with the original house. Through focusing on material choices and context, including selecting hand-made bricks in a flemish bond, the architecture ties the new interventions together with the old. By following this approach through to the interior detailing, the spirit of the home lives on. The project was completed in Summer 2017.

This bespoke, traditional country style kitchen is set in a listed building in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside. The room features original exposed oak beams which were beautifully restored and inspired the oak cabinet interiors and circular breakfast bar. The solid wood cabinetry has been hand painted in an off white, complimenting the natural limestone flooring. Styling by Hana Snow Photography by Adam Carter

The thickness of the worktops is also a real interest point. By employing two different thicknesses; 20mm on the sink run and 60mm on the island, it creates a subtle contrast which aids the contemporary and bespoke feel on the kitchen.
